A/N this story is rated as any age, though if you can please don't read until you understand what the mental trauma of his situation is... anyway for those who do want a lemon I'll have you know that this story is child friendly. Any flames will be read, though I'll just take it in my stride... the character mirrors myself in many ways... so enjoy the first chapter of A shattered Sword.
All the light in the world was in my face and then suddenly there was nothing but blackness and darkness. My face was searing from some unknown pain. My hands were holding onto a bloodied sword. I felt like giving into the darkness and just drift. Then it came rushing back to me. I had been fighting to protect my family and in the process I had ended up depriving others of their's. I had slaughtered willingly to save my loving wife that I hadn't seen in a year, after she had been stolen from me. I had descended into the madness caused by grief. I felt like I was a monster, I could see every single victim of my madness. All standing there right in front of me. It was as if there were trying to tell me too carry on or they would have died in vain. Thousands of voices in my head all agreeing, pushing me on. And that's when I surfaced. My anguish was lost in the echo. A shattering of swords and armour. I was in the medical tent for the first time this whole campaign. Me, the most feared fighter in the army, the guy who could take out whole battalions singlehandedly.
I tried to get of the bed and then fell back dizzily, then of all times my commander had to walk in at that time, of all times! He walked up to me, "we have found where your wife is being held, we know that you want her back, but we can't let you go until this battle is over." He said without any emotion. Man I was flaming on the inside.
"But what we will do is we will have the armourers dig into our Mithril chest and make you some armour and weapons so that when you depart you will be prepared for what lies ahead, and I think I speak for all of us when I say this, You need a new sword. You used that one for years." He added. It was true that I had used this sword of mine for years. It's was an heirloom of the people of the wolf also known as my clan. And it was the only sword that I had ever used that made it out of a battle in one piece, let alone over a hundred battles.
The others had been teasing me because of my constant visits to the armoury and shattering swords and shields alike. Well today I was going to go and slaughter more people mindlessly. I was missing her so much it was the only thing that kept me from slipping away or volunteering for the berserker squad also known as the death squad. In my squad I was the only one that was left of the unit when I had joined, all the others had either retired and been replaced or I had gotten to them too late, I had such a reputation for being fierce I ended up with the rejects.
On there first day in the unit they are literally scared stiff, well until I tell them that I have there back. After I tell them that they open up. I teach them to be effective fighters, they realise that if i wasn't there they would be dead, as I watch my unit closely and cover their backs. My current second in command was my younger twin sister, a fierce fighter and was the reason that I haven't cracked under fire, I love her more than anybody but my wife. While I was walking to where my unit normally set up camp. I walked into my tent to find my sister distraught on my bed weeping aloud how her sister-in-law would be so sad that I had died. She looked up and told me, "Leave me alone!! My brother has just died." I said to her, "what do you mean I've died, I'm standing right in front of you!" Well that got her silent. Then she stated punching me frantically then she tackled me and couldn't stop Sobbing from the joy. That's when she saw the happy look on my face, she then put one and one together. I saw it on her face. She had realised why I was here and not on the field. "They know where my wife is!!" I said happily.
