She was beautiful, but not like those other girls in the magazines. She was beautiful, for the way she thought. She was beautiful, for the sparkle in her eye when she talked about something she loved. She was beautiful, for her ability to make other people smile even if she was sad.
Cheerleading practice:
Sitting next to Betty and Veronica at cheer practice was beyond awkward. Everyone had heard about what Archie and Veronica had done that night during seven minutes at Cheryl's. Reggie was even there, which he clearly forgot to mention when I was with him that night.
After going to the river to comfort Moose, I had headed home to find messages from Veronica, Betty and Archie...whom all had each side of the story. I sent back texts to all of them, of course, but I was honestly more concerned in how Cheryl was doing, considering her brother had been found...with a bullet in his head rather than her original story. I wanted to help but didn't want to get too involved. It might look too suspicious..."I need fire..." Cheryl mused out loud. She was ranting about how poorly we were performing, when in reality, we were kicking out butts for her. I just bit back a comment, and sighed.
"What about the pussycats? They have a lot of star power" I suggested, and Cheryl beamed, before hugging me tightly.
"That's why you're the best. You're going to be front and center at the pep rally. Let me go call the pussycats. Be right back" Cheryl said, before walking quickly to their practice room. I could hear a sigh go throughout the room when she left.
We went back to stretching, and I tried my best to not get involved in Betty and Veronica's on-going argument. Betty was right, if Veronica really cared about their friendship, Veronica shouldn't have done anything in that closet. I understood why she went in, but doing it with Archie was something else. Basic girl code.
"Would you like to get mani pedis with me?" Betty asked me, and I widened my eyes, looking then over at Veronica.
"Any other day, yes, but I'm not getting involved in this" I said, going back to stretching and practicing the front girl routine. When Cheryl came back, it was a surprise when Betty asked her to go.. especially with their history and all. Cheryl agreed, and the look of desperation was evident on Veronica's face.
"How's my favorite cheerleader doing?" Reggie asked, coming over to me after practice. I rolled my eyes, as I kept walking to my car.
"Why the hell didn't you tell me about what happened with Veronica and Archie at Cheryl's? Why didn't you try to stop it?" I asked annoyed. Reggie sighed.
"No one can stop Cheryl when she has something planned. It was bad, but I didn't make Archie and Veronica do it...but I'm glad my boy got some finally" he said, trying to reason with me. I rolled my eyes.
"Yea, whatever" I said, as I finally got to my car and threw my bags in.
"Okay...so what?" Reggie whispered. I raised an eyebrow.
"So what, what Reggie? There's still nothing between us, and nothing will happen" I stated, as I maneuvered around him to get in the car. I sat in, but couldn't close the door when his muscular arm was holding it back.
"Why not?" He whined.
"I don't have time for this. We've been over this. Bye" I said, annoyed cause before forcing him to get off my car and drive away.
