"This is a good seat!" You said, tapping Honoka on the shoulder and moving out the way, so she could sit down first. Honoka loved to sit by the window on train rides, it made her happy just looking out the window.
"O-oh, thanks." She said, sitting down first and you sliding in next to her. You picked up your earbuds and gently placed them in your ears, enjoying the relaxing music and the peaceful train ride meanwhile, Honoka starred out the window.
'If only I could tell you how I really feel, with words, then I wouldn't waste so much of my life on useless things' Honoka thought, remembering all the crumbled and torn up love letters she tried to write for you. This was a tough time in Honoka's life as she'd fallen in love with her best friend and didn't know how to express her feelings. It was difficult being around you without her loving you a little more each time.
Honoka shivered, as a thought of you rejecting her, shot through her heart. You noticed this and pulled a small blanket from your bag and put it on her. Honoka turned around, confused and there you were, smiling.
"You were shivering so I thought you were cold." You said, smiling.
"O-oh... Thank you." Honoka said and turned back around facing the window. Her heart was inflamed but her eyes watered.
"Dammit, why do you have to be so nice..." She mumbled to herself, pulling the blanket over herself more.
Honoka wanted to be nothing more than a friend, but her heart had other ideas. It longed to be connected with yours. Honoka wanted to dream of being with you as a lover but she couldn't allow herself to, knowing it would only hurt her in the end. Even though you were her friend, she loved you.
She wanted to return to a time period when her heart was clear of these feelings for you, to where she could stand beside you as a friend and look at you as nothing more. Too be crystal clear and not keep any secrets.
Honoka did a surprisingly good job of hiding her feelings, she didn't want anyone to know. Leaning against the window, Honoka gripped her shirt, right where her heart was as if she was trying to stop the feelings for you, from escaping on their own. She filled her mind with images of you only being friends for the rest of your lives and it made her heart sting.
'Why...? Why...? Why can't you just be a friend to me...?' She thought to herself quietly. Suddenly, Honoka felt something soft fall on her. Sitting up and looking over, Honoka saw that you had fallen asleep on her. A bitter smile came to her face as she remembered this from an anime Hanayo had shown her before. It hurt because it was a couple, couples did this kind of thing, which you and Honoka weren't and would never be. She sighed.
'Even if for some odd reason, you return my feelings, I'm sorry but we cannot be any more than friends, I can't allow it. I must clear my heart of these feelings for you, I'm sorry, Y/n.'
