General Caius was amused. This was the first girl who talked about food as if it wasn’t a sin. In fact she was the only girl who didn’t talk about herself and him...

“So tell me, where do you wish you were right now if you weren’t here”? he asked.

“Well...coffee and a doughnut in an evening in front of the fireplace with a book in my hand” Adessia said dreamily “cuddled up in a blanket whilst it’s snowing outside” she sighed thinking back to her wet flat “and food on the table for once” she muttered under her breath.

“What was that?” The General asked, curious.

“Um, nothing” Adessia muttered. General Caius opened his mouth to say something when he was interrupted by another voice:

“General! Here you are! I was searching for you! It’s my turn to have a talk with you”

The General suppressed a groan.

“Bye then” he nodded at Adessia who waved back cheerfully, her mouth full of still hot apple pie.

“Rude” The Girl scowled, narrowing her perfect eyebrows

“Rude only has once syllable sweety” Adessia called after her, her mouth still full.

“Keep eating” she heard the girl mutter, disgusted. Adessia pulled a face and grumbled, turning back to the table. Now, she could feel 9 pair of eyes on the back of her head. She muttered to herself, feeling very self conscious about the fact that she was the only one at the table.

“What? The food isn’t here for decoration” she snapped at the rest of the girls

“She’s right girls, don’t make the poor...girl feel so conscious about her...size” one of the girls said, working gracefully over to the table. Adessia tried not to compare her dress with her own clothes. The girl was (sadly) beautiful and a good few inches taller than her. Adessia leaned up a bit, tiptoeing sub consciously.

“I’m perfectly fine.” Adessia snapped and grumbled to herself.

“Of course, sweetheart.” Adessia sighed; maybe she could just walk outside into the ‘lawn’ or more like field. She didn’t feel like staying here anyway. Just as she stepped forward the girl near her stuck her foot out. Adessia went flying- but she was more horrified to watch the doughnut fly across the room to where the General stood.

My doughnut! Her insides screamed, strangely, the General managed to catch it. He blinked and looked around. Adessia quickly jumped up.

“That’s mine...” She explained, reaching out to take the doughnut back.

“Oh well, strangely, I just wanted some so...” Adessia watched in horror as General Caius took a bite out of her doughnut, the General flashed her a smile. She stared before finally slouching away.

It had been ten minutes; another girl went off to join General Caius. Adessia was in a bad mood, the nine girls were just... annoying now. These girls are just playground bullies, they can only make fun of people. Adessia reassured herself, wearily glancing at the rest of the girls giggling. One of them blew out her cheeks, grabbed for a doughnut and fell. Adessia glared, stupid people, she thought, annoyed at the stinging in her eyes.

“You know, the General says he doesn’t want to talk to you.” One of the girls approached her, Ayzel shot her a look. “You’re too fat for his likings anyway.” Adessia turned red, shrugging the comment away.

General Caius was tired. He didn’t want to talk to any more of the girls. His brain hurt and he was sure he had lost half of his intelligence just listening to them talk; living with any of them was like a nightmare come true. His head throbbed.

“It’s the last person’s turn so could Miss Adessia please take a seat with the General?” The butler called, Adessia glanced up. She’d been feeling home sick, well flat which-she-had-just-moved-into sick. Adessia got to her feet slowly and dragged herself forward; the General looked up at the sound of footsteps. Adessia sat down, feeling nine pairs of eyes glued on her back.

“Don’t bother; I’m in no mood to talk, could you just go?” General Caius snapped, leaning back in his chair. Adessia blinked, her face turned the colour of beetroots. She jumped to her feet; it wasn’t like she’d wanted to come in the first place.

“Fine.” Her voice came out quiet. The General blinked, Adessia turned, trying not to look at the gloating faces ahead of her.  She stormed past, but not before one of the girls could pour some coffee on her. Her eyes weren’t the only things wet now.

General Caius stood up, he had forgotten all about her- the late comer. He blinked again; he could hear her storm away, to the bathroom most likely. The other girls, it seemed, were enjoying themselves.

He couldn't believe what he was thinking but he actually wanted to talk to the big mouthesd girl. It was quite shocking really- probably because she didn't treat him as if he was a toddler and that was only because the girl didn't know that he was blind.

General Caius hadn't always been blind, he remembered when he could see. But this weakness of his had only made him stronger and more aware of his sorroundings.

As he reached the corner of the room he glanced back to, there was a silence coming from the hall but instead he could hear someone sniffeling- yet still taking time to eat something. He sighed and walked into the girls bathroom.
