Chapter nine

“I HEARD THAT YOU’RE A WILD ONE!”

Finn walked out of his bedroom confused, who was singing rather loudly and drunkly. It couldn’t be Rebekah as she refused to listen to the modern music and Elijah was too smart and ‘proper’ to sing and dance whilst drunk. It must be Kol, Finn confirmed in his head.

Finn used his vampire speed to appear in the living room of the mansion, hoping to scare Kol witless in the mist of his singing. But as he jumped out in front of ‘Kol’, Kol wasn’t the one scared but Finn was. Instead of seeing Kol he finds a very drunk older sister, Elyzabeth.

“Elyzabeth?” Finn questions her in confusion.

Elyzabeth stops in mid-chorus of ‘Wild Ones’ to turn and answer her younger brother. “ Finn! Nice to see you again! Where’s everyone else?” She looks confused at her brother, the smell of alcohol drifting off her breath.

Finn was confused; he had only seen Ely drink this much… since she was human after what happened. So what had happened this time to cause this? “Ely, they’re not here. What’s wrong?”

Ely shook her head slightly, not letting tears fall. She moved backwards to fall onto the sofa, as she sat she swallowed loudly before saying to Finn. “Why does everything happen to me? All I wanted is a nice human life. Get married to the boy next door, get a house, maybe have a few kids and then grow old and die.”

Finn looked at his broken sister sadly; he never liked to see Ely like this. Ely was his favourite of his family; they could always talk no matter what was going on.  He sat next to her on the sofa and took her hand in his. “Ely, we can never have that. Anyway, I’d never let you marry the boy next door to us when we were mortal. He was horrid.” Finn laughs softly to break the tension.

Ely laughed, but instead of continuing to laugh she breaks out into a sob. Tears pouring down her face, everything had become too much for her. Finn embraced her in a hug, trying to calm her. He ‘hushes’ in her ear as a brother should. Truly they both knew Niklaus should’ve been in Finn’s place, but they both knew that would never happen.

“Ely, what’s wrong. I can’t help you if I do not know what’s troubling you.” Finn says softly and caring to his sister.

Ely removed herself from Finn’s embrace and gritted her teeth; her werewolf-side was coming out a little bit. “Why is life so bloody hard, I try to get into a normal life and someone goes and fuck’s it up.” Her fists quickly turned into balls, Finn could hear her teeth scraping together with a major amount of force.

“What do you mean Ely?” Finn asks softly, hoping wait no wishing she’ll calm down. He had seen Niklaus on one of his rants and knowing Ely it would be worse as it would’ve been built up over a long period of time.

Ely stands up, her arms glued to her sides. “Bloody doppelgangers, taking the things I love away from me. How dare they!” She screams before flipping the coffee table over, causing all the bottles and such to fall onto the floor with a smash.
