Chapter thirteen

Caroline lay in bed witnessing the burning and melting of her flesh of where Elyzabeth had bitten her. Caroline didn’t hate Elyzabeth for biting her, Klaus had brought it upon himself to lose something, she was just annoyed that she was going to die… and not even die in a fantastic way.

She sighed, wincing slightly when she tried to move her body to grab the glass of blood from her side, but she’s stopped by Elena who took it from the side and handed it to her. Elena had taken it upon herself to take the role as nurse between her friends.

“Thank-you.” Caroline mumbles to Elena, whilst slipping her blood.

Elena nodded and smile at Caroline trying to seem positive on the outside whilst inside she was boiling in rage. How dare Elyzabeth hurt her best friend, she didn’t know why Ely had hurt Caroline but that wasn’t the point. She didn’t even currently care that Caroline had been seeing Klaus behind their backs but she cared more about the fact that her best friend was dying, and there wasn’t anything they could do.

“Why did Elyzabeth bite you?” Elena wondered aloud to Caroline.

Caroline looked at her friend shocked that she’d ask that, but she answers Elena as she should do. “Klaus said some rather… mean things about what happened in the past and she acted out towards him.”

Elena looked at her confused, “What did Klaus say to her?”

Caroline looked nervously at Elena then continued. “It seems when they were human, Elyzabeth became pregnant and had Henrick. You know the story about Henrick’s death and what it leads too, right?” Elena nodded in answer, “Well Klaus claimed Ely as a whore, therefore Elyzabeth wanted to get him back through pain. And the only way she could do that is through me.”

Elena nodded slowly, taking in that Henrick was truly Elyzabeth’s child hence forth Klaus’ nephew. Did Alaric know about her past? But then again Elena didn’t have to worry about the relationship between Ric and Elyzabeth as it was now over. She had ended it for Elyzabeth and hopefully that’ll be the end of it. 

The two friends sit in silence for a few moments, not knowing what to say to each other as Elena knew that Caroline didn’t want pity and Caroline didn’t want the pity Elena was offering. All Caroline wanted to do is lie in bed, think back over her life maybe say goodbye to Klaus and then welcome death with open arms. As both friends smile at each other nervously the door bell rings and Elena jumps up wanting anything to diffuse the tension at this point.

“I better get that.” Elena says pointing towards the door.

Caroline nods at Elena to go open the door, as Elena walks out of the room Caroline closes her eyes and lets out a sigh of relief. As Elena opens the door Caroline strains her vampire hearing who Elena was speaking to; Alaric. Caroline didn’t see any point to listening to their conversation so she shuts her eyes tightly and begins to nod off.

Sometime later in the night Caroline’s shaken from her dream to find someone sitting on her bed, weighting it down to one side. Caroline groans slighting opening her eyes, as she opens them she sees moonlight flooding into her pupils. Her arms frail around for the glass of blood on her side to be stopped by someone handing the glass to her.

“Thank you.” Caroline says in a husky voice.

“It’s the least I can do.” Says a soft unfamiliar voice.

Caroline’s eyes open wide as she realises the somebody who was in her room wasn’t someone she knew. As she searches the room for the person she sees someone standing next to her bed, her breath’s in the air whistling down her throat.

“Here to finish the job?” Caroline asks into the darkness of her room.

Elyzabeth sighs and crosses her arms whilst leaning against the wall of Caroline’s room. Then she does something which surprises herself, she answers truthfully. “No. If I wanted you to be dead, you’ll be dead.”

Caroline looks at her confused, coughing and cringing as her bite burns her skin. “Then why are you here?”

Elyzabeth bites her bottom lip, thinking about the best way of explaining this to a barbie blonde new born vampire. She sighs and takes her place again on Caroline’s bed. She runs her hand through her hair.

“I never meant to harm you, only wound Nik’s pride. If you gather what I mean.” Elyzabeth says softly, not daring to look at the dying vampire in the bed.

Caroline sighs. “I understand, what Klaus said to you was out of order and I would’ve acted out in the same way.”

Elyzabeth nods. “So I’m sorry, am I forgiven?”

Caroline nods slowly and snuggles further back into her bed.

Elyzabeth smiles at the blonde and walks towards the open window she had gained access to the room, as she exits she remembers the question Alaric had asked her. ‘Can you cure Caroline, for me?’. Elyzabeth trusted her life with Alaric and totally understood why he asked it of her.

Oh a whim Elyzabeth uses her hybrid speed to appear next to Caroline, Caroline lets out a sound of shock, then she bites her wrist cleanly to break the skin to release blood and forces her bleeding wrist to Caroline’s mouth. Caroline protested for a few moments not knowing what was happening, but once she realised that Elyzabeth was curing her she drank drunkly at Elyzabeth’s blood.

As Elyzabeth removed her wrist from Caroline’s grasp she watched as the young vampire’s hazardous bite slowly heal over. Caroline’s eyelids become heavy and she begins to nod off slowly.

“Sleep well Caroline, you need all your energy.” Elyzabeth whispered before disappearing out of sight.

-(a/n) Caroline had now been cured :O But do not fear the plot is about to go haywire, sort of or at least i think it is :L So how do you think Klaus is going to react on Caroline being cured & most importantly do you think it was right to cure Caroline? Anyway remember to
