Chapter 2 - The next day

*Time shift to next morning*

I woke up and the first thing I did was checked my phone. Im not going to lie, I had dreamt about Zayn all night and I was secretly hoping for a message.  When my phone said –no messages- I died inside a little. But I didn’t let it upset me, so I simply had a shower and got dressed into some trackies and a baggy top. I lounged around, then remembered that the boys said they were on x factor. I grabbed my laptop and searched into YouTube ‘Zayn audition’. I didn’t know his surname so I didn’t think I’d find anything, but I did, and what I found surprised me.

I heard knocking at the door. I was slightly scared about opening it, what if it was Zayn? I look a mess! I opened the door really slowly only to get laughed at.

“What the hell you doing that for! Silly girl!” it was Maddie. I breathed a sigh of relief and let her in. 

“sorry! Had no idea who it was!” I said and she simply shrugged.

"so, tell me all about last night!” I made her some tea and told her the whole story…

*Time shift* 

 “oh my god. You got chatted up by five boys!” she said shocked. 

“well, only really one…” but she ignored my comment

“you say they were on x factor?” I nodded and she picked up my laptop. But I forgot it was still on the YouTube clip of the boys being formed. 

“hey is this it? Oh so you’ve been checking up have we!” she giggled and pressed play.

 “shhh just watch it!” I said, secretly worried about what she’d think of them. 

The clip ended and there was a minutes silence, in which time I was trying to think up things about them she might not like, but I couldn’t find any.

 “well…the curly ones kinda cute I guess” she said and winked.

 “I knew it! So…when do you think he will ring?” i asked, hoping she’d say soon.

 “no idea, but in the meantime, let’s play wii!” she jumped up and started up Just dance – our favorite game to play together.

*Time shift by an hour*

 “oh man! That was a tough game!” i said whilst  puffing like I was going to die.

“yeah I know! I need a muffin and smoothie!” she said, hinting….

 “come on then” I grabbed by bag and jacket “let’s go to Costa”

We walked down to the nearest Costa Coffee and got a seat by the window. 

“god I wish he would call!” i moaned, checking my phone again.

 “if you keep looking at it, it’s never going to ring!” she said and i guess she was right

I sighed and looked out the window. I noticed a pretty girl in pink jeans and a grey hoodie. 

“hey aren’t they the jeans you wanted?” she asked, following my gaze. 

“yeah they are, WOW! She’s pretty” I said as she turned round and I saw a clearer view of her face.

We were both staring at her when a boy turned up, I couldn’t tell who it was as I was looking from the back but he hugged her for ages. 

“awwr what a cute couple!” maddie said and i secretly thought the same

They stopped hugging and he took her hand and led her across the road to where we were sitting. It was then I noticed who it really was. 

“omg.” I was so shocked.

 “isn’t that the guy from Nandos?” Maddie asked, but I was too stunned to answer.

What was he doing with her?  Are they going out? Why had he asked for my number if he had a girlfriend? So many questions where running through my mind, I had to settle this. I got up and headed towards him, ignoring Maddie calling after me.

As I approached, he saw me and let go of the girl’s hand. 

"Megan! What are you doing here?" he looked shocked but happy as he smiled at me.

 "I could ask the same"

 "what? We are just going for lunch" he turned back to the girl who looked even prettier now close up.

 "and all this time I thought you liked me…too good to be true" I was fighting back tears so I ran back to the table, grabbed my stuff and ran out Costa.  Whilst running back home so many thoughts went through my mind. I thought he liked me?  Why would he ask for my number?  I realized that in the past 2 days I had tricked myself into feeling special…it was a lie. I unlocked the door just as a single tear ran down my face. I took a long shower, the warm water rushing over my body and drowning my worries. I got out and put on some trackies and a top. No point dressing up is there? Nobody to impress. After half an hour I heard banging at the door.

 “meg let me in” it was maddie. I really cant face her right now though.

“no, leave me alone” i called back

 “please!”She pleaded, for a moment I nearly gave in, but then simply shouted back.

 “no, im sorry” i waited a few minutes and heard footsteps slowly fading away

I felt guilty, she was my best friend. I couldn’t let her see me like this though! I waited ten minutes until I thought she had gone and then went to bed. It was only early but all the crying had worn me out and I couldn’t face staying awake.
