Two days after Liz died, the shadowhunters had a funeral, however, because poor Liz died in ascension. Her ashes were not allowed to be used to build the city of bones.
Hermione did not attend the funeral. (She had refused to talk or leave her room, ever since Liz died.)
As all the guests and students, took their seats outside in the council gardens, (the 8D students got the front seats) layla stepped on to the podium and gave a small speech in honour of Liz;
"I would like to say a few words about our friend Liz. She had been friends with everyone in our form 8D for 2 years and was always there when you needed her. We will miss her dearly especially Hermione, who was her best friend bot is unable to attend today.
Liz was a hard-working, intelligent, caring and very thoughtful person. She was extremely close to her friends and has a lot of people who care for her. It isn't possible to put into words, the importance of friendship, love and how much Liz meant to us. She positively influenced our lives in many ways and we will miss her with all our hearts." Layla looked up and said
"Elizabeth Bennett, thank you for your friendship, we will all miss you forever and never forget all the precious time you spent with us. Ave, Atque, Vale, Elizabeth Bennett Ave, Atque Vale."
Every went to the sarcophagus to pay their respects, and when layla returned to her seat, she found Hermione sitting silently in the seat next to hers.
