Chapter 9: The Battle Heats Up!!!

  Jake and the girls had traveled far distance with out any trouble. Well they had a little trouble along the way and little being a huge understatement. Jake jumped back as a raptor jumped at him. He avoided two more eventually getting tackled by a large one. He held the jaws away from his face. Weiss and the others where slicing away at the raptors knocking more out.

"This wasn't the greatest plan i admit!" Jake yelled as he kicked the raptor off.

" You think!" Weiss growled as she hit two more away.

"This is one of the funnest!" Yang laughed punching three.

Jake laughed as he webbed the last of them up panting hard, "Now that was a work out."

"We wouldn't have had to do that if we had avoided this grass field!" Weiss yelled.

"Cmon Weiss it was fun. And we are closer to where we need to go." Ruby said happily.

Blake nodded, "A little more training is what we needs. And Ruby is right where closer."

Jake smiled until the raptors started to pick themselves up again shaking their heads hissing at the team. They all got ready to fight again when the Raptors heads snapped up hissing at something huge. They turned away running fast into the long grass towards the forest. Jake and the others watched in awe. 

"Why do you think they took off?" Yang asked.

"Who knows?" Blake said as Jake looked back.

"Probably we are to strong for them." Ruby smiled as Jake swung his hands behind him pointing for something to leave.

"Maybe it's something else. What do you think Jake?" Weiss asked turning towards him.

"Uh it probably what Ruby said." Jake said trying not to act weird.

"Okay maybe we should look around-" 

"Lets not do that we gotta find that place before the raptors come back!" he said pushing them away looking back.

"What? Okay enough!" Weiss said moving out of his arms, "You have been acting strange."

"What me strange? Nah!" Jake laughed.

"Yeah I noticed that to whats up?" Yang asked.

"Well it's nothing. You know just worried." Jake said nervously.

"I'll hold him." Yang said grabbing him.

"Hey!!! Wait!!!" he yelled.

Ruby and Blake walked to the trees when a Rex stormed out of the forest as Yang dropped him. The rex hovered over him growling at the girls, it's massive tail and head wrapping around him. The girls all pulled their weapons out ready to fight, causing the rex to growl at them.

"Woah!!! Hey hold it okay!!!" Jake shouted lifting his hands up, "It's okay. They aren't gonna hurt me. Their my friends." he said to the rex.

"Are you crazy that thing might eat you!" Weiss warned.

"No she won't. Not after i helped her." he said petting the rex's muzzle.

"It likes you? That's so cool!" Ruby said gleefully.

"How did you help it?" Blake asked.

"Her. I helped her out of one of the traps that was meant for smaller dinos. She got her foot caught and wasn't able to walk. So i released her and she kinda has been following us." Jake said as he petted the large dino's head.

"Are you sure she doesn't see you as an easy snack?" Weiss asked walking up to him.

"No. She's been bringing me carcassas as gifts. I think she see's me as her dad or something." he says as Ruby started to pet her.

The rex nuzzled her gently with it's massive head, "Did you name her yet?"

"Well i was thinking of calling her Texas." he said.

"Why that and not something scary like, Killer or Smasher?" Yang asked.

"I don't know. I when i think of it you never heard of a t-rex called Texas. And when you say it in your head it just sounds like a good idea." he smiled.

"I think it's a good name." Blake added.

"Yeah it really sounds good." Ruby added.

"I think it sounds ridiculous." Weiss said crossing her arms.

"It's pretty cool." Yang added.

"And the name is official. Texas the tyrannosaurus!" Jake smiled.

    The girls all smiled at this as Texas nuzzled Jake. But up ahead of them was a beast that was lurking around the base. They continued on this time  on top of Texas's back. Her heavy steps sounded through out the forest scaring off small dinosaurs. They scurried at her feet causing the girls to notice.

"Jake we should be pretty good huh? No body is gonna mess with us are they?" Ruby asked.

"I don't know. The bigger ones might. She is still a baby." Jake said patting Texas's back.

"A baby!?!?!" they all said in surprised.

Jake smiled, "Yeah. She may be 17 feet tall but she still is a baby. Probably why she is kinda attached to me." he said as the sun started to go down.

"Do you think we should stop?" Yang asked.

He looked back when his spider sense rang loudly the world slowing down for a few seconds.

   Suddenly the trees broke down as a massive creature broke from the trees tackling Texas into the ground. They all fell off hitting the ground hard Texas growling as she fought with the beast. Jake got up and jumping up as Texas was flung into a tree hard. Jake growled and looked back as the beast started walking over to him. It walked on two legs  it's arms swinging at it's side. IT sharp talons tapped against each other. On it's shoulders where massive spikes sticking up from it's back. It growled deeply as it walked towards him it's ugly face  baring it's teeth. It's throat emanated a bright orange color as it growled. 

   Jake didn't waste anytime jumping into action. He jumped up throwing a punch at it hitting it back. Jake dodged a slam of the tail avoiding it again. The creature swiped once and twice, barely missing Jake. He bounced back avoiding multiple a slam of it's claws. Yang jumped up slamming the beast hard with her gauntlets sending a shotgun explosion. The beast groaned hitting the a large tree falling down.

Ruby stood next to him, "We are ready to help you. Your not alone Jake." she smiled.

He looked at her putting his mask on as Yang and Blake fired at the creature keeping it at bay, "Yang with me again. Ruby, Blake, and Weiss figure out how to bring him down."

They looked at him, "Okay  okay. Just kill him."

     They nodded jumping into action attacking the monster. It roared at them as Ruby and Blake shot at it. It threw a punch with it's massive arm only to be stopped by a solid punch from Yang. It's eye widened with surprise as she threw another shot punch hitting it hard. It roared in pain as it's hand broke from the punch. She threw another hitting it hard, until she slammed by it's tail launching her into a large tree.

       Ruby and Jake both looked at her in worry until he jumped up  punching the creature in it's jaw knocking out some teeth. It roared loudly before shooting fire out of it's throat. They all dashed out of the way hiding behind the tree's as it continued. It stopped sending it's head up releasing a deafening roar. Jake jumped out from behind his tree shooting a massive web covering it's mouth. It stumbled back a few steps trying to pull of the webbing. But before it could even react it's arm was grabbed in the jaws of Texas who growled loudly ripping the arm off. The creature stumbled back before Ruby and Weiss cut off the other leaving it defenseless. It looked around as they closed in on it. Growling as if it could scare them off. Jake and Blake dashed behind it tripping it with Blake's rope as Yang jumped up. Her eyes had gone into a menacing red glow as she dashed forward landing the devastating punch vanquishing the mighty creature. The forest was quiet again as  Jake and the girls looked at the creature.

"What was that?" Ruby asked.

"I don't know. But i have a bad feeling theirs more." Jake said as he looked towards a massive complex hidden by the trees.
