There are many subjects and topics I can bring up to you about what exactly poisons us as a society. In fact, I can talk about a lot, and even then not get to them all by the end of the day. The one poison that really got to me is jealousy itself. For my final I chose to write a poem called The Other Side. My poem focuses more on what is happening with the bully.
In most cases when a victim is bullied, it's because the bully themselves are jealous of something about the victim. I had thought about making a poem from a victim's perspective, however it didn't seem to grab my attention even though it should have. My bully's name is Jesus and from my poem his life is rough. From The Other Side, one can tell that Jesus had to grow up faster based off the fact that he is the one to take care of his baby sister, his mom, and rent. It's obvious that Jesus didn't have a perfect childhood.
The Other Side hints quite loudly that his mother is an alcoholic and gets abused.
My poem used jealousy as to why Jesus bullied the other boy. He was jealous of the other boys lifestyle, so naturally seeing the other boy was a constant reminder of what Jesus never had. We come to the end of my poem and see that he straps up. I neglect to go into further detail for the sole purpose that my audience guess the reason as to why he strapped up.I wanted to leave my audience with a cliffhanger. In the end jealousy is another poison too. As a species we depend on socialism. In order to survive we socialize. Sometimes because of that, we are tempted to do things we know aren't right.
You We hurt others because we are hurting. We act out to get noticed. Jesus never asked or deserved the life he had been handed. In his case as I stated before he resulted in bullying the other boy because of his jealousy
