"At some point in life, you need to understand that you won't live forever isolating yourself from the help of other people. You can be independent, but it's not always like that. You would always end up searching for help when you're drowning in your own world." Those words of her mother rang over her ear.

Joy sighs heavily after making up with her mom.

But maybe some people were like me.

Thoroughly confused at some point in their life, thinking that no one can ever help them.

I... was one of those people.

"I was so used to being so dependent, I forgot that I'm already creating a barrier between me and the people who loves me." Joy trails off, before her eyes darted over her phone. Hesitantly holding into it, she shakily searches for Irene's number. Looking upon the clock, it was already 12:00 AM. Sighing heavily, she started to type out her thoughts into the phone.

"Irene, I'm sorry for acting this way that I already forgot why friendship exists in the first place. My problems were not an excuse for my attitude so... I kind of decided to sort out myself. I'm wrong. I'm sorry."

Gulping, she sends it over to Irene even if she knew her best friend was sleeping. Lying her head down over the desk, she starts to sob to herself once again.

Unconsciously, she taps over Sungjae's number. Her heart was beating heavily in a mixture of fear and worry at the same time. She couldn't explain herself, she feels so empty right now. Like everything is her fault.

On the other side, Sungjae was just about to sleep. He tucks his self over the comfortable sheet in his bed, about to close his eyes until his phone rang. He suddenly panics, snatching the phone over his ear after answering. "Joy."

He couldn't hear anything but just motions of breathing.

He blinks a couple of times, before muttering. "Are you... still mad at me?", "Can we... meet? I promise I'll be cautious." Her voice cracks on the other side, making him worry all of a sudden.

Everything melted away in instant. His disappointment for her not listening on his side earlier, his pain for her breaking down their friendship. It all melted down with just a single call.

"Are you... okay?", "Let's meet near the MBC building, that place is empty and safe rather than here." She sniffs through the other line, only for Sungjae to sigh while muttering. "This would be risky." He stood up, "Hold up, I'll get my clothes change." He opens the door, before seeing his members on the living room, watching some movies along with his manager.

"Where are you going?" Eunkwang asked, before Sungjae shook his head only to wear his coat.

"Manager-", "Go." His manager replied, before looking over him. "Just be careful." With a nod, Sungjae mumbled. "Thank you."

...

Joy blinks a couple of times, getting rid of the pain stinging over her eyes by the tears she shed earlier. She still wasn't able to get a reply from Irene and she wasn't so sure of tone of Sungjae's voice. She felt like everyone was mad at her.

Shakily breathing, she rubs her hands together while blowing over it for heat. She covers her face with a mask, looking around only to find no one. "Did he stood me up?" She murmured, looking over her watch. "It's been twenty minutes... I guess he's busy... or mad... or over." Joy whispered to herself, gulping before deciding to walk away.

"I can't believe that you called me out in the middle of the night."

She heard his voice, only to turn around and find him smiling genuinely over her. He wasn't even wearing a mask. Her eyes widen, looking around before taking off her mask to walk over him. "What are you doing? I told you to hide yourself-" She was supposed to wear his the mask, only for him to snatch it out, mumbling. "What's the problem?"
