Molly's POV

"Anyways, are you sure? Didn't you date that Amber girl? She's super pretty."

I say this because I don't believe that he truly thinks i'm beautiful.

And if he does I don't want to believe it.

"Ugh, don't get me started on her. Sure she's okay looking but that's not what matters. She's really, really, rude and very jealous." He rolls his eyes, obviously annoyed.

"Oh, i've never really talked to her before, she just seems like a okay person."

"She was at first, until she decided I was cheating on her for no reason."

"Yikes."

I don't get why Ethan wastes his time with me.

Honestly if you compared me to Amber i look like chopped liver.

"Yeah. But anyways, why don't you believe that you're pretty? Most girls would be flattered."

He looks me straight in the eyes causing me to have shivers down my back.

I replay his words over and over again trying to come up with a reasonable explanation.

"It's just, well, I don't like myself."

"You should! You're amazing."

"Sure." I say sarcastically.

"You know, you should really talk to these two girls who know just how to cheer everyone up."

I'm confused by his words.

"What, who?" I say in confusion.

"Do you know Kelsey and Sahar?" He asks, his eyebrows knitting together.

"No.."

"You'd be great friends with them. They'd cheer you up, prove to yourself you are truly beautiful like I think."

"Uh okay?" I say, but more like question.

We continue to work on our science project occasionally talking.

I've learned that Ethan is just a great person in all.

"Hey, do you wanna take a break? Get some water?" I ask fiddling with my pencil, my hands aching from writing.

"Yeah that sounds great." He looks over at the door and honestly takes my breath away, his jawline could cut diamonds.

We walk downstairs and before I can reach the fridge, Ethan grabs a family picture and admires it.

The family photo was just weeks before my dad went off to war once again, and that was the last time i saw him.

"Is this you and your family?" Ethan asks, pointing to the picture.

I bite my lip, holding back tears.

"Yeah." I say quietly, almost a whisper.

"Woah, you look like your dad! Not in a weird way though." He says, trying not to offend me.

I go over and snatch the picture from his hands and place it down face first where it once was.

"I'm sorry, did i do something?" He asks worriedly.

"No. It's just-"

"You can tell me anything. I'll always be here for you Molly, even if we just started talking."

This caused me to blow. I suddenly burst into tears, cupping my face in my hands.

This is why i didn't want him to come over to my house.
