Molly's POV

I wake up, hearing the faint knocks on the door. I then hear my moms same weak and broken voice.

"Molly, time for school honey." My mom's bloodshot eyes tell me she's been crying too.

I sigh, and sit up. I realize i'm still in the rocking chair, i must've fallen asleep.

"Mom, are you okay?" I ask, a hint of sadness in my voice.

I knew she wasn't okay, but I also knew she wasn't going to admit it either.

"Yes, i'm perfectly fine. C'mon hun get up now, you only have a few more days of school left before summer!"

My mom smiles, a fake smile, and playfully claps her hands as if she's so excited.

"Okay." As i say that, my mom quietly turns around and gently closes the door shut.

I stand up from the chair, the teddy bear that was once in my lap peacefully, falls to the ground.

I pick it up and gently place it back on the rocking chair, giving it a little kiss.

I go to my closet and study the clothes I could wear today. I decide the go with some leggings, white converse, and my dads old hoodie.

I use to wear it to bed all the time because it reminded me of him. His smell and warmth gave me comfort through the cold nights.

I slip everything on and just leave my hair natural. It's curly, just like my dads.

I grab my phone from my bed dresser and also grab my back pack laying next to my bed.

Once I sling the back pack around my shoulder I lightly jog downstairs.

My once full of life and beautiful home turned into a cold, lifeless house after my dad passed away.

I guess you could say he was like the glue in the family, he always held me and my mom together.

It's really different without him here. Although he was gone all the time from war, his calls were just enough.

I clear my thoughts once I go into the kitchen and my mom throws my a granola bar.

"Your dad loved that sweatshirt," My mom says coming close to me. She places her hand on my cheek with the scar and caresses it.

"Make him proud honey. He's watching from above, you know that right?"

"Yes ma, I know." I give my mom a kiss on her cheek and she shakes her head.

I walk out of the house and decide to drive to school today. Being a senior, I always like to leave school during lunch to clear my mind.

I hop into the car and turn on some music, instantly relaxing me.

I feel like today is going to be a long day.
