There was also some confusion about Alan's father. Unfortunately, Alan's father was a guy my mother met at a bar a couple of years after my father died. They had a one night stand, she got pregnant, and he never contacted my mother back after he found out she was pregnant. Shit, she didn't even know his real name. All she knew about him was that he was over six feet tall and had eyes that put the Atlantic Ocean to shame.
This morning, after I wrote out to you guys my phone started to go off. I slowly got up from my desk and grabbed my phone from the side table beside my bed. I answered the call and said, "Isn't it a little too early for this shit?" I heard a high pitch giggle before the boy said, "You know you shouldn't say those words to a child, but don't worry, I won't tell mommy or daddy. You wanna say hi to your brother?" Without missing a beat I said, "Yes. Please. Let me talk to him." I heard shuffling in the background for a couple of seconds before I heard the soft voice of my brother say, "Hey Dan." Trying my hardest to hide the panic from my voice I said, "Al, are you alright? Did they hurt you in any way?" He let out a small sigh before saying, "Yeah, I'm fine but you need to take care of yourself. If you fuck up we are both dead. Please just listen to what they tell you to do."
I tried asking him if he had any clue where he was at, but the boy cut me off and said, "See! Your brother is fine. Just listen to mom and dad and you will see him again. Oh, daddy has to talk to you." I heard the phone being passed off and after a couple of seconds, the man said, "Did you enjoy what I did to Mark? Honestly, putting a bullet into that bitch's heart has brought me a lot of peace as well as yours, hopefully. For today's first task, I want you to go to your mother's house and wait for her to come back home from the grocery store. You have fifteen minutes to get there"
As soon as I hung up the phone, I quickly walked to my car and drove to her house. I parked a little down the road and waited for around ten minutes before my mother's car pulled into the driveway. She got out of the car and my phone started to ring. I answered the call and said, "Okay, I'm at my mom's house. What do you need me to do?"
The man gave me a short laugh before saying, "I want you to get close enough to get her attention. When she looks at you, I want you to tell her how she feels about Alan's progress." I tried asking him what he meant, but he hung up the phone. I took a couple of breaths before running as quietly as I could towards my mother's house. When I got to the end of her driveway she turned around and looked at me. I could see a mixture of hatred and confusion on my mother's face. After a couple of seconds, I took a deep breath and yelled out, "How is Alan's progression going?" Her face became a deathly pale and she stared me down while tears dripped down her face.
She yelled back, "How did you know?" before a little kid in a lion mask ran down the street and stood in between my mother and father. The kid turned towards me and said, "My father says that you did it perfectly." He then turned towards my mother and ran up to her as fast as he could. When he got close enough to her he jumped on her and took out two knives from the back of his pants. He jumped on top of her and started to stab all over her body. Blood started to surround her body as she stared at me with a look of absolute peace. She mouthed out, "Thank you" before she became completely still. The boy then used one of the knives to slowly cut the skin off of her face. Once he was done cutting he grabbed the skin and ran as fast as he could down the street he came from.
After the boy was out of sight, I started to run up to my mother's body but the sound of my phone's ringtone brought me to a complete stop. I took out my phone and answered it. The man let out a chuckle before saying, "My son is certainly charming, isn't he? You have 6 minutes to get back to your house if you don't want to be the main suspect in the murder of your mother." He hung up the phone and I ran to my car and drove as quickly as I could back to my house.
