To my Dearly Beloved Jenna and Daughter Sarah...

The war rages on here in Europe, it seems these damned NeoSoviets are not giving up. Switzerland, Sweden, and most of Eastern Europe has already fallen under the sycle and hammer. My battallion has had few successful battles but we are still hanging in here. My brother Michael says hello as well. I hope this war ends soon so I can return home to London to see you both.

Best regards, hugs and kisses, and all my love,

Oliver

The tall courageous lieutenant signed his name and handed the letter to a pilot who flew messages, gifts, and the dreaded yellow envelope to families back home. The pilot gave him a nod and a salute and boarded the mighty aircraft known as the P-55 Eagle.

"Do you think we'll be home anytime soon?" He asked.

"Sadly, no." Responded Oliver. "Michael, this is the second year in this war, it has not cooled down, but instead gotten worse. We can only look forward to fighting for the time being."

Michael sighed, "I remember when we were first drafted to fight this damn war. We were so confused and lost, but we have come far."

"We sure have. There have been pretty close calls where we've barely made it through." Said Oliver.

"Yep." Responded Michael. "We've done great and there's still a lot to come, eh Firesides?"

"I remember when I first got that nickname. I saved the general in a daring attempt running past enemy shots and pulling him out of his burning tank. My uniform caught fire along the hipline. Since then I've been called firesides." Oliver smiled.

A deep voice boomed over the loudspeaker at that second. "Roll call! All soldiers gather at the barracks by the flagpole! We must prepare for our next task!"

"Well..." Said Michael, "looks like we've got work to do. Back to the hellhouse!"

Oliver chuckled a little. "Let's go."

The two brothers in arms ran towards the bustling barracks for roll call...
