Chapter 3: Oola

I arrived to the classroom exactly two minutes before the bell. Mr. Maul was writing really hard looking math problems on the board. I took a seat in the second seat in the row right in front of the board. I dropped my backpack to the floor and took out my book to read.

As soon as I flip open the cover page, Hera comes in tears and Padme is right behind her with a worried face.

"What happened Hera?!" I asked. When she didn't answer, I asked Padme.

Padme said, " On the way to class two boys laughed at her and yelled at her rude things because she was a twi'lek! And on top of that, they called her something mean! I tried to tell Hera that it's not worth getting worked about that but she isn't listening to me."

"I am listening!" Hera said as she wiped her tears, "And you know what? I am going to be strong now and who cares what those rascals say! I am going to be brave and be me!"

"Miss Amidala!  Mrs. Syndulla! Class has started! And Oola," Mr. Maul said as he came towards me with a lightsaber. "Never ever read in class after class has started! Make this lesson for you all!" He put the lightsaber close to my book and sliced my book in half! He stared at me. I stared back using my death stare trying not to look away at his hideous face. When he turned away I started to silently sob. That book was my mother's! It was so special to me. My mother started reading it to me when I was 7 and she never got to finish it before she was taken away by some of Jabba the Hut's guards. I found the book under my bed a few weeks ago and instantly remembered her. I will find her one day, no matter what it takes.

                                                             ********************************

   Mr. Maul wrote on the board a problem we had to solve for a grade: [75308 (-4507 x 2006) x (500634 x 10 x 3)]

As I wrote down the work my eraser fell to the floor. I leaned over the railing of my desk to reach and my hands touched somebody elses. It was Obi Wan Kenobi's son, Jett Kenobi. Sigh.

"Here you go Oola." Jett said. Sigh. "Oola?"

"Oola are you okay?" That snapped me out of it. "Oh! Yes! Thank you!" I answered and I got back to work daydreaming about Jett.

I always thought Jett's father was an amazing jedi and I wanted to be like him but first of course I would save my mother. I have to admit, I might have a tiny crush on Jett... okay fine. I have a crush on him.

I snapped myself out of it and finished the question and turned it in. Mr. Maul sneered and checked my grade. Soon after reading my work his sneered disappeared and he frowned and gave me back my work. A+ ! Yes! Almost immediately as I put my things away the bell rang and I ran to my next period. I hope things will get better as the day progresses for my friends and I enjoy all of my periods.
