"No, get off me, you're hurting me!" I frantically tried to pull away from his grasp. Tears formed slowly in my eyes as I lunged my body away from him. I tried to scream, kicking him in his thigh. He let out a low growl as if he was a wild animal and then he let go of my arm.

I took a few steps back; my mind overpowered with thoughts. 'What was Ryder?' 'What was he really?'

"I'm sorry." He said it quickly and casually, surprisingly returning to his old self. "I'm sorry, I was being so hasty and forceful but it isn't safe for anyone on the beach after a certain time..and well, I learned that the hard way."

Slowly, I looked up into his emerald green eyes, they were full of pain and sadness; causing my already broken heart to throb uncontrollably. My throat clogged up with anxiety.

"I..I need to sign in." I said hurriedly not trying to keep anymore eye contact.

"The only way to get there is to go through the beach, where it isn't safe for you, so I advise you to stay with me, where it's safe."

I looked at him blankly thinking 'But am I really safe with you?'

"Why would you want to protect me?"

"Because i'm a nice person and I care about your safety."

"Oh." I replied confused.

My mind was ticking like a bomb. What just happened? Wait...did he just say that? I need to get out of here!! I need to get away from him..But do I really want to leave him? Yes? No? I don't know?

"Are you alright? You have gone awfully pale, do you need to sit down?" He reached for my hand. I clumsily stumbled away from him. His face looked hurt and confused.

"I'm sorry." I whimpered. "But all this feels so wrong."

I ran.

I ran through the opening of the cave to the beach. I looked around breathlessly. I had three choices; I could go back into the cave and apologize, or run south to the opening of the sea or I could run to where I earlier had heard the noise. The first two options weren't very inviting so I went for the last one.

I sprinted as fast as my legs could take me; but I was hardly making any progress the faster I ran the further away I was from where I wanted to be.

I thought back to Ryder and how hurt he looked when I apologized and ran away. I wondered. Did he follow me? Should I look back?

As I edged closer to my destination, I saw a figure it looked like a man or maybe a boy his body and face looked quite blurry. As I stumbled recklessly onto the platform which lay between the beach and a town square; I heard an annoyed gruff.

I looked up breathlessly, my heart beating uncontrollably from my chest. My eyes blurred and my sight became fuzzy. My legs grew weak and I feel onto my knees. my breathing quickened and I got scared. I started to hyperventilate. I looked up and saw dark brown eyes pierce my body. My mind grew weak and I collapsed on to the floor.

I woke up to the sound of raised voices. I titled my aching neck to the sound of the voices.

"Why did you bring her here?"

"You should be thankful I brought her back, she was laid out on the bloody floor having a seizure!"

There was a long pause.

"And anyway she seemed to be running away from you; you don't sound like your in her good books."

I heard a snort. "Well, she isn't in mine either."

"Shush."

"What is it?"

The voices grew quieter.

"She's awake - I can hear her thoughts."

My eyes snapped open.
