"Oh, crap!"
'I need to get out of here!' Slowly, I heaved my aching body from the sofa which I lay on. I could hear footsteps edge closer to the door. I looked around; looking for an escape route. There was a small, square window at the side of the room. I hurried towards it.
A small knock filled the room sending shivers down my spine. I looked at the door. Transfixed. I couldn't get out and they could get in. Tears formed in my eyes. What would they do to me? Kill me? Hurt me?
I thought back to Ryder and how angry he would now be from what I did to him. But honestly he couldn't blame me for the way I reacted; he was being very forward at the time.
"Phoebe, I know-"
"Excuse me?" Said a sarcastic voice.
"I mean..WE know you are in there, is it alright for us to come in?"
Slowly, I opened the window and looked out on to the demon beach. I sighed, thinking to myself 'It's not like I can die again.'
"Phoebe, I won't ask you again, can we come in?"
"Umm..no, I'm..I'm naked, I need to put some clothes on."
I could hear a snort come from the other side of the door.
"Fine..put some clothes on and tell me when you are ready!"
"Yes..of course." Quickly , I squeezed my head through the window and breathed in the rotten air.
I looked down anxiously and started preparing myself to jump.
"Hey man, I'm going outside for a bit, you should come your 'naked' friend is planning on doing an incredibly stupid magic trick for us and it looks ever so entertaining."
"Phoebe!! Don't do anything stupid. I've had enough of you acting reckless."
I looked back at the door with determination and jumped.
And fell..
" Bloody hell that hurt!"
"You're not in hell...yet"
A large body loomed over me. I looked up slowly surveying every detail of the mysterious person. Large brown biker boots, ripped jeans, leather jacket, lip piercing, dark brown eyes and slick black hair.
'Gosh! Not another creepy dead person.'
"Excuse me? I'd rather you say it to my face." He stared at me with a grimace on his face.
I looked at him, my face full of disgust.
"What the hell are you? How could you hear my thoughts?" I screamed in his face.
He took a step back glaring at me passively. "I'm Ash."
"Well, I'm Phoebe.."
"I know who you are!" He snapped and walked away, without a backward glance.
I stood up slowly, dusting my clothes off. I looked around trying to figure out where Ash went but there was no sign of him as if he was never there.
"Phoebe.."
I turned around to see Ryder looking at me with concern.
"What? Stop looking at me like that...I don't want your pity."
His face hardened and I smiled.
"Better?"
"I guess so."
"Come inside...we need to talk and you should meet Ash."
"I've already met him."
"Okay, I want to apologize for making you uncomfortable and pressuring you to run away."
"Apology accepted but I don't have time to talk"
His face lit up amused,
"Oh, so what do you have planned which is so important that you can't spend time with me?"
"Stuff..anyway I need to go, thank you for kidnapping me and bringing me into your home."
"Kidnapping? You mean 'saving'?"
"Nope. I mean kidnapping."
"Well, anyway you can blame Ash for 'kidnapping' you as it had nothing to do with me."
"Oh I would, but I don't plan on having any more conversations with him.."
"Ha, why?"
"He isn't a very social person!"
"True..but I bet you did something to annoy him.."
"No, well maybe.."
"Phoebe, please come and join me for a drink in my humble abode"
"Dead people can drink?"
"Sure, it doesn't do anything to your body but that doesn't mean you can't do it.."
"Oh , will Ash be there?"
"More likely, considering he lives there.."
"Oh." I looked at him blankly.
"Come on please." He smiled at me showing off his dimples and radiating his emerald green eyes.
"Sure, only for a bit though"
"Great, this way.." He smiled mischievously and led me to his house.
