"It was really nice meeting you Calum. I hope your step brother isn't too much of an arse" I said as we exited the plane

"You to Sammy. Can I ask you something before we never see each other again?" He asked and I nodded

"Um yeah, go ahead"

"Could I maybe, you know, maybe , I mean if you don't mind, maybe..." He stuttered and I laughed

"Just say it" I exclaimed with a laugh

"Could I possibly have your number?"

"Yeah. Well no. I mean, I don't have a number yet. But if I did I would give it to you" I replied honestly.

"How about I give you my number and then you text or call me when you get a phone" he said and I smiled

"I'd like that" He gave me an awkward hug before heading off in the direction of an older man who looked like him. I glanced around trying to find my father. it didn't help that I didn't really know what he looked like. I saw a boy holding up a sign saying 'Samantha Blake' I cautiously went over to him.

"Are you here for me?" I asked and he looked at me blankly.

"Are you Samantha Blake?" He replied bluntly.

"Yeah"

"Well then I'm here for you aren't I" he replied as if it was the most obvious thing in the world. He turned around and started walking away, leaving me trailing behind, struggling with my suitcase.

"if you don't mind me asking, who are you?" I asked as I struggled to keep up with him.

"I'm Ashton. Your dads got, um stuff to do so he asked me to pick you up. My dads best mates with yours" He said and I just nodded. I followed him out to a car which I assumed was his. He got in the front and gestured towards the passenger seat. I placed my suitcases in the boot and got in beside him.

"So you're Australian" He said and I nodded

"So are you by the sound of it" I replied and he chuckled

"Ah you got me. Yeah, I'm Australian. Me and my family moved out from there 3 years ago. Miss the sunshine though. What about you, what made you wanna move to rainy old England?" He asked and I thought about it for a moment. What did make me move. I mean Australia was amazing and I had a great life.

"I um, I, I kinda miss my dad and all. I guess I love the adventure in it." I replied.

"Fair enough. This isn't meant to sound horrible, but now you're here maybe your dad will finally shut up. All we've heard from him since you agreed to come to England is Sammy this, Sammy that. In the nicest way possible, I'm kinda sick of hearing your name" He said which caused me to giggle.

"So, um, what kinda stuff do you do around here?" I asked.

"Nothing really. I mean, Im starting Uni and I'm in a band. Apart from that, nothing" He replied. this caught my attention

"You're in a band?" I asked and he nodded

"Yeah. 5 seconds of Summer. were all from Australia you see. we though it would be alright. There's me, Luke, Calum and Mikey. Luke and Calum are stepbrothers and me and Mikey are just good friends. In my opinion Luke's a stuck up his own arse dousch, but we needed another guitarist and Luke's one of the best I've met." he replied modestly whilst keeping his eyes on the road in front.

"That's so cool. I would love to see you play sometime" I said and I meant it.

"We have a gig tonight, wanna come?"  He offered and I eagerly nodded my head before realising that he wasn't actually looking at me.

"I would actually love that" it all went silent for a moment before Ashton spoke again.

"You can find a CD to put on if you want. Theyre all in the glove box" I followed his instructions and found a blank CD

"What's this one?" I asked and he smiled a little

"Our demo CD" he replied and I laughed before slotting it into the CD player. Before long a chorus of heys were coming out of the stereo.

"What do you actually play?" I asked

"drums" he replied simply and I gasped

"That's you?" I asked, indicating to the drumming noises that were coming out of the stereo

"Yep, the one and only" he replied before going silent.

The rest of the car journey was like that. Small bits of conversating but mainly silence.

"Were here" He said as we pulled up in front of a semidetached modern house. it wasn't massive but it wasn't exactly small either. It was kinda perfect. Ashton gestured for me to go ahead so I did whilst he got my bags. I rang the doorbell and a middle aged man opened the door. I recognized from the pictures straight way that this was my dad. I hadn't actually seen him since I was like 7.

"Sammy?" He asked and I nodded before I was pulled into a massive hug

"Hunny, you're so gorgeous. You look so grown up and beautiful" He said, he voice muffles as he was still hugging me.

" Um thanks dad" I replied and he smiled slighty.

"Your room is just up here." He said gesturing to the oak stairs that lead up into the 2nd storey of the house. I slowly walked up the stairs and my dad followed.

"This one" He said pointing at a room. The walls were a light pink and it looked like the kind of room I would have wanted when I was like 10. But I smiled anyway. I'd just met my dad for the first time in ages. it wasn't really my place to be picky.

"So I'm going to leave you to unpack. Um yeah, dinner will be ready at about 6." He said, awkwardly scratching the back of his head.

"Um thanks dad. I'm going out to Ashton's gig later on anyway" I replied with a slight smile

"Yeah he told me. He said he'll pick you up at 8"

"oh okay. well we you in a bit then" I said and he nodded before leaving my room.

I stared around at the pale pink room that had now become my own and sighed. I was in England, this is what I wanted. I just felt so empty. I sat down on the bead and just stared at the door, expecting my mum to burst through at any moment and tell me that she was off to work. I just sat there and thought.
