Sam's POV
I have to apologize to Ali.
I feel like shit.
My life has been boring since I left her. And it's only been a week.
I regret it entirely!
What to do... What to do...
I pace around the room for a couple minutes, thoughts of Ali drifting through my head. Her beautiful face, her beautiful eyes, her beautiful hair. Her beautiful self.
I look at the counter and grab my key. I sprint out the door and to town.
Once I arrive, I look around. Reading the store signs, deciding which one to get something for Ali at.
The jewelry store.
Perfect.
I walk in the door and a small bell twinkles with a beautiful noise. The entire store is full of older guys looking at engagement rings.
"Aren't you a little young to be getting married?" I whip around and standing behind me, hands on hips, is a man who seems to be about 28. Give or take a few years.
"I'm not getting married." I joke. "I'm looking for a present for my gir-... Ex... Girlfriend." I bow down my head when the word 'ex' slips out of my mouth. I've said it before... But with Ali... It's different.
"I see... I see..." He mumbles. The tall man stands there for a second, and suddenly drags me to a section of the store with jewelry sets of beautiful earrings, necklaces, and bracelets. My eyes travel around the glass case until they immediately stop on a set with baby blue jewels and small crystals surrounding them. They're perfect.
"How much for that set?" I point to Ali's new jewelry. Well... They will be.
He thinks again. "Originally $264, but for you, $150."
My eyes widen. "You don't have to do that for m-"
He cuts me off. "No apology. You need it. You come here, she's the perfect girl. Sale for you." He gets out the set and puts it in the jewelry boxes to hold them. "I'll add in the matching ring." He gets out another box and puts the ring inside.
We walk over to the register. "$150 please." He holds out his hand.
I pull my wallet out of my pocket and pull out some cash I got from my old job. It was from my last paycheck. I don't have much money left, except for what's in my secret compartment. I pull out $150 and place it carefully in his hand. The money gets placed in the cash register and before I know it, I'm out the door with the jewelry in hand. "Thank you!" I say one last time as the door slams behind me. The man nods, staring at me through the glass door, and we both walk away.
I catch a bus back to the school, and I get on a tux after sneaking a couple roses out of the vase on the front desk. After fixing my hair, I walk out the door, jewelry boxes in hand and start to Ali's dorm.
Once arriving, I stand in front of her door and hold my hand up to knock.
I'm shaking.
My fist jolts forward into the door three times. I hide the presents behind my back a couple seconds before Ali answers the door.
"S- Sam?" She looks shocked.
I smile at her. "Can I come in?" She nods reluctantly and motions for me to enter through the door.
I'm still shaking.
I carefully seat myself on the edge of her bed and tap beside me, wanting her to sit down. She does as told looks at the floor.
"Y- You look nice." She breaks the ice.
"Thanks." I sit there, trying to slow down my shaking, making it less obvious. "I have something for you." I regret saying it the second I did.
She slowly lifts her head up and gazes into my eyes. "Really?"
I nod and pull the boxes from behind my back, one at a time, the earrings first. I open the box and watch her expression go from worried to amazed.
"They're beautiful!" She smiles and hugs me around my neck.
"But wait! There's more!" I joke, trying to sound like Billy Mays or another infomercial guy. I pull the bracelet out next.
She giggles and smiles again. "They match!"
I smile at her beautiful face and pull out the necklace. I open the box and after she examines it, puts it around her neck.
Lastly, I take out the ring and get down on one knee. "Ali... Will you be my..." I pause for dramatic effect. "Girlfriend?"
Her reaction is wonderful. Amazing. Beautiful. I put the ring on her finger and she wraps her arms around me, her head resting on my shoulder, her eyes looking straight at the wall.
I love her.
Ali's POV
My smile immediately turns to a frown once my eyes stare into the blue wall.
I don't know what to do.
I love him.
But I also love Chandler.
I pull away from the hug and kiss him on the cheek.
I don't say yes.
