The Hellhound

Chapter 1

Nico was not feeling happy, not happy at all and he had a very good reason why. Waking up to find a hellhound slobbering all over him is not exactly his idea of a good wakeup call. To make matters worse the hellhound is a member of Gaia’s army and is trying to capture him for her. He didn’t even want to imagine why she would want him because whatever the reason, it’s sure to be one that he would not like.

Thinking quickly, Nico leapt to his feet and unsheathed his sword made of Stygian Iron. He got into his stance and waited for the hellhound to attack.

This is not good, I can’t shadow travel out of here because I don’t have enough energy since I have been on the run from Gaia and her army for the past month. How did this hellhound even find me? I hid my tracks well!

Nico was rudely interrupted from his thinking when the hellhound lunged at him with a terrifying growl. Instinctively, he brought his sword up and deflected the hellhound’s large, deadly paws before rolling under its stomach and stabbing the sensitive, unprotected flesh. The hellhound roared in pain before swatting Nico away and into the wall of the small basement.

Groaning in pain as he slid down the wall, Nico collapsed into a boneless heap. Being thrown against a wall by a hellhound usually did that to a person (and no he wasn’t being sarcastic).

Where’s father when you need him? So much for being the mighty God of the underworld, he doesn’t even care about his only son, Nico thought bitterly.

Suddenly the hellhound was right in front of him and glared down at him with its furious blood red eyes. It raised its paw and slammed it down on Nico’s chest, effectively pinning him in place. Nico gasped in pain as his breath left his body and his vision suddenly tunnelled dangerously. As he fell unconscious, he faintly heard a familiar voice screaming his name then everything was black.
