I held her hand in my hand as we looked at the night sky. The twinkling stars shimmered and sparkled with the moonlight as if dancing with it. I looked up at her and smiled. "Won't ever forget me will you?" Shimmer asked, her eyes shimmering with water. "Never, how can I?" I told her, my eyes getting misty. I tried to cover but it just wouldn't stay. Before I knew it, tears dropped from my cheeks onto the tall grass beneath me. "Hey, remember I promised I would stay with you, in your heart?" Shimmer said, as if she was asking about the next day's weather. " Yeah, Best friends right?" I asked her, choking on my tears. "Absolutely, Astrana.." She squeezed my hand one last time and said," I have to go now ok? But one thing; I am somewhere where you can here me but you can't see me.. I will be somewhere you love... Remember to keep Star-Gazing ." She said, sighing and ran off in the direction of her house. That was the last time I saw her as she died of lung cancer the very next day.
" Honey, we have to go to Churchill Cemetery to give respects for Shimmer, remember?" my mom said, sounding depressed. I knew she was affected by her death too. Her family and my family were close. Very close. And now she was gone. Just gone. " Coming, mom!" I said. Oh, maybe you don't know me. No one does. Well, not anymore. I quickly put on a simple black dress and wore a charm. A special charm, that nobody knew of. Not even mom or dad. It said : Shimmer and Astrana: BFF. " I cried but she didn't come back. I wiped a tear on the charm and ran down the stairs to join my parents. We took a ride to Churchill Cemetery, while I kept a lump in my throat. My mom was trying to comfort me which just made my lump worse. If she was going to comfort me any longer, my lump would burst into tears. Large, useless tears. "Look Shimmer, this is not fair. I am suffering. Why did you leave me like this? Huh? Stop, I told myself. She won't answer and she won't come back. She won't come back. Then the most bizarre thing happened. I looked up at the sky from my window panel, and I saw something winking at me. Confused, I looked up to see something forming a constellation. Yes, it was getting clearer and nearer. Then, I saw it. There was a patch of stars, in broad daylight forming a constellation. Well , forming a word or a sentence. One of the stars winked and one of the stars whispered," Is she the one?" "Maybe ..." the other star whispered. I was about to call out to them but then they vanished. I turned to see mom staring at me from the corner of her eye. I did a really cheesy smile and got off the car at the entrance of the cemetery.
