As soon as the class quiet down the teacher started talking. After 6 months of going to this class, I still don't know what that teacher's name is. There was an e somewhere in there. "Okay class, I will be giving out a piece of paper for each partnership with the task on it. This project is due in two weeks, so I expect this project to be well done." My teacher said with absolutely no hesitation. "Ms. Cameron" So that was her name. "I was wondering what this project counts as." A nerdy looking kid asked her. "It counts as 10 tests grades, so you better do well on this, or else you'll fail this class." She finished off.

Once I turned around to look at Mathew, he was reading the task like it was in a foreign language. "What the hell? She expects us to do all of this in two weeks? We need more time than that! She's such a dumb fucker." Mathew said angrily. I wasn't shocked by the swears he said. Since he's the school "bad boy", I don't find it shocking. He handed me the sheet with the task on it. I did the same look he did. The task was to make an invention using recycled materials, and the invention either has to be a working tv using only used batteries and no outlets, a paper radio that can only be ran by the sun, or a lightbulb that works, and can only be generated by exercising. Damn! I bet she can't even do these things. "So Mathew, which option do you want to do?" I asked him shyly. "Anyone's good, but don't call me Mathew. Makes me sound nerdy like that guy over there." As he pointed to the boy who asked Ms. Cameron what the project was counted as. "Just call me Matt."

"Okay Matt, I was wondering if we could do the lightbulb project. It seems like that's the easiest option. And who's house do you want to go to, to do this project?" I asked in return.

He thought about that for a minute more like five, until he spoke up. "The lightbulb option sounds great and can we work at your house? My house is kinda loud there all the time."

"Uhh. Sure that would be great."

"So I'll drive us to your place after school?"

"I guess so. Just wait for me by the doors." With that said, the bell rang for dismissal to the next class. As people hurried to get out, I quickly spotted Caleb and Amy in the halls waiting for me.

"Hey guys!" I said with extra enthusiasm. I don't know why, but I feel extremely happy right now. Caleb and Amy give me strange and confusing looks because last time they saw me, I was crying like a little girl who wants ice cream, but her parents won't buy it.

"Someone's really happy, why's that?" Amy asked. I couldn't exactly tell her why because I don't even know why. I just smiled and shrugged.

"He probably found himself a new friend. And a good one." Caleb said wiggling his eyebrows.

"No, not really. I just got a chemistry partner. But I have no idea why I'm so happy and excited."

"Hey, do you need a ride home today?" Amy asked with some concern in her voice. I shook my head because I remembered that Matt's driving me home.

"It's okay, I already have a ride home. Matt's giving me a ride." Once I said his name, both Amy and Caleb's eyes widened in shock.

"Do you mean Matt the kid in history class? Or the Matt as in the school's bad boy Matt?" Caleb asked still shocked. I gave him the who-do-you-think look.

"I don't know Jake, he's a trouble maker I don't think you should be hanging out with him."

"Don't worry about it Caleb. We're just chemistry partners, nothing else." I guess, I persuaded them enough because their eyes seemed to soften a bit.

"Hey guys! Check this out!" Jordan said running towards us with a phone. Jordan's my older brother, he lives with my dad, but he sometimes visit mom. He's a senior too. Except, he's born in the summer, and I was born during the winter. As soon as he got to us, he showed his new phone to us. Dad likes him more than me. So he gets practically everything he wants, just because he's straight. I haven't seen my dad since I was 7. I saw him one time in the groceries, but he treated me like I was invisible.

"How many gigs?" Caleb asked, snapping me out of my daydream.

"64, this is the best phone ever! It has free internet, and at least 800 mega pixels so the screen is mad clear." He replied. It seemed like he knew someone was about to ask Caleb's question because he had no pauses or hesitations when he said that sentence. The bell rung as Amy and I seated for class. Jordan and Caleb have the same class together but not the same as me and Amy's.

I have history right now, and it's my favorite class. Not because I can have more time to daydream but to learn. I'm not exactly a nerd, or a loser. History just entertains me. "Okay class, today we are going to learn about the twenties." Ms. Wilson said while she wrote 'twenties' on the board. Yes, I know my teacher's name in this class, but every other class, I have no idea.

"During the twenties, also known as the roaring twenties; there was the Great Depression. There was also the Jazz age. The Jazz age was when Harlem singers, dancers, writers got known. Because people in the U.S. drank too much alcohol, there was prohibition. It was when alcohol was banned. Women who had husbands that always drank was for this situation. However, men was against it. So, instead of closing down all bars, they created speakeasies. Speakeasies were like underground bars. If you didn't have the correct password, you don't get in. Because of the prohibition, gangsters would get involved to sell and buy alcohol. Soon they were professionals at seeing if the alcohol was real or not. And the style back then was very different. there were people called 'flappers'. They had bobbed cut hair and wore short skirts. They'd usually be in speakeasies, dancing." She said. But she didn't have enough time to finish her lesson because the bell had rung. "Don't forget to do the homework that's due tomorrow." she shouted
right before everyone left the room.

LATER THAT DAY

____________________________________________________________

The last class had finally finished. Now I can go home! As I was walking to my locker, I saw a person leaning on it. Seemed like he was waiting for someone. While I was approaching to my locker, the person seemed more clear. It was Matt waiting for me. I thought we were going to meet up where the doors were.

"Hey" I said once I got to my locker. He didn't reply, he just gave me a breathe taking smile and waved.

"Ready to go?" Matt asked with is eyebrows raised. I quickly shoved my books in my locker and proceeded to walk outside with him.
