it was an overcast day, grey sky, dark clouds with a light drizzle raining over the town. But Jasey still sat on the edge of the cliff smoking her now slightly damp cigarette in one hand and holding her book in the other. she loved this weather, the cold. She was wearing distressed black jeans and an oversized black sweater. She kicked her black tattered combat boots on the face of the cliff while exhaling the smoke. She didn't do much in her life, didn't know that many people, never really went out any where except to the cliff, of course, and parties she could get free alcohol from. She was a bit to damaged for anyone to help. Anyone who tried to help Jasey eventually gave up, that's what made her crazy. Herself. She would drive anyone away who would get to close to her and eventually drive them crazy as well. Jasey was aware of this, that's why she was so sad.
Luke also loved the rain, he wasn't affected by it at all. He walked by the cliff like he did everyday. The girl was still there. He was still so confused by it. Why was she always there? Why didn't he see her any where else but the cliff? He decided to go up to her. He had spent several weeks wondering about this one girl and thought it was about time he found something out. He was oddly intrigued by her, even though he only seemed to see the back of her head or the side of her face. He unsurely took a seat next to the girl, although not as close to the edge as she was. She didn't budge, not even glancing slightly in his direction, she just continued inhaling the cigarette.
Luke cleared his throat "uh hello?" He mumbled in hopes she would acknowledge him this time. after moments of silence she replied,
"look, what do you want? A cigarette or something? I'm sort of busy you know." Still not looking in his direction.
"No, um. I was just checking if you were alright. You're always sitting so close to the edge. You know I always come check on you, to see if you're still there. Making sure you haven't fallen yet" Luke rambled on nervously.
Jasey made him feel nervous, he didn't know why exactly. She seemed like a bitch.
Jasey looked over in his direction for the first time. This was also the first time luke could see what she really looked like. He took in every detail. her sickly pale skin, her grey eyes, Her long messy hair that covered most of her face, her chapped lips and the way she placed her cigarette neatly in between her two fingers.
"I'm not alright" she answered him in a monotone voice, "and, you're a creep" she added.
Jasey inhaled a large amount of smoke and blew it directly in Luke's face. Luke didn't mind, he was a smoker himself but he was definitely taken back.
After minutes of neither one of them saying anything luke spoke up.
"I'm luke" he said
"Jasey" she replied giving him a small smile.
"Do you wanna play 20 questions" Luke asked knowing it was a lame thing to do, but he figured it was one of his only options to find out more about this girl.
"No. What, we're still 12 are we?" She snickered.
"Come on, please?" Luke almost begged.
"What ever" she said sighing.
After a while, they had surely gone over 20 but still continued asking each other questions, both their legs now hanging over the edge.
"Do you know how you're going to die?" Jasey asked him curiously.
"No, no one does" Luke replied, surprised she would ask such a question.
"I do" she replied
"How then? How are you going to die, Jasey? He said a bit sarcastically.
Jasey breathed in and just stared out into the open. She looked over at Luke and nodded down at the cliff then suddenly stood up.
"You're sitting on the cause of my death" Jasey stated simply before walking off.
Luke was a bit confused for a moment, but then he got it.
