So I know that the stuff in this book got really dark and really fucked up so I thought I'd explain why I thought of this story a little bit.
So the story really centers around the life of Mark, who is a childhood sex trafficking victim at the hands of his mom. I left out the most vulgar details for obvious reasons. I can't and won't write child rape and shit. I would probably throw up. But the topic is really important to me so I wanted to write about it and hopefully give a little bit of awareness or something. Before writing this, I read many stories of people's experiences so I could try to portray it accurately. But the truth is there's a lot of people, and especially kids, who have it worse than what I wrote about. There were kids who were drugged, or kidnapped, or filmed, and all sorts of other horrible crap.
But at the end of the story, I wanted it to have a hopeful ending (unlike a lot of thugs I write, I know XD). But another thing I read a lot about in stories from people is this feeling after they're free from that life. It's hopeful, but where do you even go from there? So, to bring that in, I wanted it to have an almost mysterious ending. You don't know what they're actually going to go do after everything, but it still ends up on a good note. Mark is able to open up and trust again and him and Lindsey make big plans together. It's cheesy but cute and kind of this hopeless lovestruck teenager feel that I thought was nice.

Anyways, I just wanted to bring it up since even though this story is purely fiction, it is a real problem. And it's worth bringing up and I hope one day we'll be able to stop it.

Until next time...
