I went to flush the toilet in my cell, but looked at it confused when it wouldn't flush. I turned around when I heard my cell door slide open abruptly and heard a loud commotion echoing through the cell block. I moved to the door of my cell and looked out as an alarm blared and some correctional officers charged into the block and starting tearing apart the inmates cells.
I sat on my bunk and waited for an officer to come search my cell. I finally heard footsteps stop outside of my cell and looked up when the footsteps were followed by a deep chuckle. I let out a groan of frustration as I saw Bellick leaned against my cell door.
"Hello, Sweet cheeks," He said. He stopped leaning against the door and motioned for me to move. "Up."
I stood up and went to stand outside my cell door as I looked over my shoulder and watched him flip over my mattresses and the minimal items that little the small table in the corner. He smirked at me as he left my cell and moved on to Michael's cell next to mine. I turned my head and saw Michael stood in the doorway of his cell holding a a small shank with a wooden handle and let out a small gasp. No... Michael couldn't have made that, he wouldn't. Michael held the small weapon in his hands and quickly tried to hide it behind his back when Bellick made it to his cell and looked straight at him. I saw Sucre stood behind him in a nervous state with a scowl plastered on his face.
"Tooling up for the race riot, are we?" Bellick asked sarcastically. Over the last couple of days in here, it's become quite obvious that there's been tension building between the two majority races in here; blacks and whites. Bellick held his hand out towards Michael, "Hand it over." Michael slowly placed the shank into Bellick's hands.
I looked down and could see the warden making his way to the cell block and looked as though he was coming our way. I don't think this is going to end well.
"Rughead and the billy. Which side are you on anyway, fish?" Bellick asked Michael, referring to the two sides that have been building up in the run up to the race riot.
"That would be neither, boss," Michael said looking straight forward at Bellick, watching him as he twirled the shank in his hands.
"Maybe you're gonna' go extra-curricular with it then, stick a CO maybe," The stubby uniformed man stated whilst carrying out the motion of stabbing someone with the shank. Bellick was going to continue questioning Michael with his plans when his was interrupted from behind. I turned my head back away from them and saw the warden stood in front of my cell with two more officers behind him.
"Is there a problem here, deputy?" Warden asked. Deputy? You have got to be kidding me, Bellick is a deputy. How the hell did he get that promotion, he's the definition of a complete ass.
"We got a shank in here," Bellick said proudly, handing the weapon to the Warden, his whole demeanor changing in the presence of his boss.
"Is this yours?" Henry asked, directing the question at Michael. I watched Michael as he stayed silent, not moving at all. That's when I realised it wasn't Michael's. He was covering for someone, most likely Sucre judging my his nervous state at the back of the cell. The Warden must have noticed Sucre's behaviour and realised Michael was lying, just like I had.
"You're not a good liar," the Warden said and looked towards Sucre. To be honest, I'm quite shocked I haven't been told to go back into my cell yet, though I guess they're too busy dealing with the shank situation than me. "Come on Sucre, you're going to the SHU." Sucre dropped his head and trudged forwards slowly and looked at Michael solemnly in a way, as though telling him he wasn't really angry at him. Some correctional officers lead Sucre away whilst 'Deputy' Bellick stayed put.
