“Is that,” I tried to remember their names for a moment before giving up, “the guys?” It was too many new names in one day.
“Does that sound like two Harley Dyna Super Glides to you?” His voice sounded irritated. I wilted a little inside. What’s he mad at me for? I hugged myself tightly, suddenly feeling chilly as my arousal faded. It was clear that whatever was happening, the fun was over for now.
Jase got on his knees and dragged out a long, rectangular padlocked box. With the aid of his ring of keys he unlocked it and reached inside. I gasped as he pulled out a gun of some kind. I guessed it was a shotgun, though my only previous experience with a gun was standing in line behind a cop at Dunkin’ Donuts. And the cop wasn’t carrying a shotgun.
“Sorry babe. Sorry for snapping.”
I gave a soft smile. “Uh, that’s okay.” Despite the fact I was in a dusty warehouse in the middle of nowhere with a worried looking, armed biker, I felt relieved.
“Would you believe me if I said that we’re the good guys?” He looked me in the eyes and in that moment, I believed him. This new world I’d entered was so far away from everything I’d ever known, that I didn’t even know what ‘good’ or ‘bad’ meant in this context. But in that moment I truly did trust Jase, and I knew he was one of the good guys.
I grabbed his hand for a moment. “I’m sorry, I’m not used to this.”
“Don’t worry. You never get used to it. You get better at it, but you never get used to it. Now, can you fit under there?” He nodded at the camp bed as he pumped a shell into the shotgun.
I frowned. The floor was kind of dirty. But what choice did I have? “Could you pass me my, uh…”
Jase gave a tight smile and tossed me my underwear and shorts. I pulled them on as he gave a final wistful look and a sigh. “Promise we can continue this later?”
“Promise,” I said, giving him a peck on the cheek. I watched for a moment as he gently opened the sliding window above the desk, giving him a clear view to the entrance down below.
I dropped to my hands and knees and crawled over to the camp bed. Just as I was about to get down on to my stomach I felt a sharp smack on my ass. I grinned.
“Sorry. But goddamn, dat ass…”
It’s nice to feel wanted. A moment later I dropped flat onto my belly and crawled into the dusty space beneath the camp bed, hidden from view. As I lay there I savored the gentle warmth that blossomed across my ass where his palm had struck.
Watching Jase’s boots from my hidey-hole the full extent of what had happened to me the last couple of hours came crashing down on me. What the hell have I gotten myself into? I’m not this kind of girl. I should be studying.
I heard the faint sound of the warehouse entrance sliding open and an unintelligible voice.
“Well, shit.” Jase said softly.
And then, the first shot rang out.
