Living On The Ground - John Murphy

Chapter 2 (The Ground)

I ran of the drop ship as fast as I could. I could feel the Adrenaline exploding through my body as I was exploring the forest still making sure I could still always see the drop ship. I had heard all the story's about the ground and what it looked like. But never had a story told how beautiful it was.
I took a deep breath taking in all the fresh air. It was nothing like the air on the ark.

I walked back over to the drop ship after about 20 minutes of walking around. The blond headed girl was sitting looking at a map on the ground. There was a boy looking over her shoulder. I knew exactly who he was, in fact I think every one on the ground did. It was the chancellors son Wells Jaha. I could here him telling her about all the things that went around during the landing. I rolled my eyes and started to walk away right before Jasper Jordan came over.

"Ah cool map. They got a bar in this town? I'll buy you a beer." He said with a chuckle.

Wells didn't seem pretty amused. He almost pushed jasper over.

"You mind?" He said annoyed at Jasper.

As he was pushing him back someone spoke up stopping Wells from going any further.

Hey, hey, hey hands off of him, he's with us.

I looked over and saw that it was a boy around 17 years old. He seemed to be the leader of a little group with around 4 or 5 other guys. As the boy approached closer Wells started talking.

"Relax, were just trying to figure out where we are. He said looking at him. Then Bellamy interrupted him.

"We're on the ground. That not good enough for you?" He said looking at him.

Wells shook his head and spoke again.

"We need to find Mount Weather. You heard my fathers message, that's our first priority.

I looked back and forth between Well's and Bellamy not knowing what was going to happen next. Then the Octavia joined in the conversation.

"Screw your farther. What, you think your in charge here? You and your little princess? She said sounding really confident.

The fought back and forth for about a minute before the boy from before pushed Wells from behind.

"Look at this everybody, the chancellor of earth." He said with a smirk. Wells said something back to him.

"You think that's funny?" He said right before the boy kicked him in the ankle making him fall to the ground.

"No, but that was." He said still smiling.

I started walking closer, watching the fight that was about to go down. I wasn't the only one who had that idea. People started forming a circle around the two. The boy started gesturing for Wells to come closer, right before the space walker 'Finn' jumped in the middle of the fight from the drop ship.

"Kid has one leg, why don't you wait till it's a fair fight.

That seemed to be enough to make the him back off. He looked at him with a glare then turned around to leave, his little posse following him.

As every one else life I was still staring at Wells. I want paying attention of who was around me, so when I heard a voice it made me jump. I turned around and saw it was Octavia.

"You alright?" She asked me looking a little concerned.

"Ya..ya sorry I just got Lost in my thoughts. I said laughing a little to myself.

Me and Octavia talked for awhile telling each other about our lives. Her life was mostly about how she had to hide under the floor of the ark but there were some interesting parts to. I told her about my life and how it was all great until the day I got locked up. How I had a loving mother and father that always supported me and loved me no matter what.
After a few more minutes of talking Bellamy came over.

"Maddison is your name right?" He said looked at me waiting for me to respond back.

"Ya, ya uh what ya need?" I said back to him.

"I need you to go do something for me, if that's all right with you." He said still looking at me.

"Of corse, like what?"

"I need you to go scope out the area around the camp, marking out any important places such as streams or rivers.

"Sure is that um.. all you need?" I said looking up at him.

"One more thing. Some one else is going to join you, so I can make sure your safe."

"Ok.. who is it?" I said curiously.

Then someone walked out from behind Bellamy. It was the boy from earlier who got in a fight with Well's.

"This is Murphy, he is going to join you." Bellamy said patting Murphy's shoulder.

So that was his name Murphy. I looked at him from head to toe already knowing that this would be an interesting little trip. I looked back at Bellamy.

"Great, should we get going." I said with a little bit of sarcasm in my voice. I looked at Murphy right before he's spoke.

"Lead the way princesses."
