Chapter 3

I’m running, and lost. I’ve been running for what felt like hours. I can’t stop. Can’t stop. Keep going. You CAN’T lose to this! I keep getting scratched and bit at by the trees and plants around me. My legs are burning and my lungs are yearning for me to stop for just one precious second, but I can’t. I guess this is one of those situations of mind over matter, or whatever the hell it’s called, right?

Then, I’m pulled out of my distracting thoughts as a trip, fall, and roll around on the ground like a tumbleweed. I gain my composure and pull myself under a tree to hide from whatever was out there. Then I heard a familiar voice. “Why are you running, child?” It was a very wispy and smooth voice. It almost sounded like a mother coddling her child; but I knew better.

“YOU out of ALL PEOPLE should KNOW WHY!” I screamed and my lungs and throat hated me for it. Then, I jolt out of my sleep. I open my eyes and I’m instantly blinded by a bright, white light. It takes me a moment to adjust to what’s going on.That’s new. Never been awoken because I screamed too hard. First time for everything, I guess. Hehe. When I come to my complete senses, I realize I’m gagged and strapped down to a table by my wrists, torso, thighs, and ankles in nothing but my under garments. Well… this is just fantastic. Just how I planned to spend my summer.

Then I hear the stepping of what sounds like rubber rain boots walking towards me on the table. She came by my body and was examining me. I then heard a faint and breathy “Fascinating…..” You could tell she was talking to herself. She then came up closer near my head and said “You're a beauty, ya know.” I just gave a confused look, mostly because of her prominent irish accent. I couldn't really see much of her face, but she did have very vibrant and passionate blue-ish green eyes and beautiful red hair. As I was examining her features, she proceeded to say “I wanna introduce myself, my name is Kai; but my coworkers call me Special K. Mainly because that’s my favorite cereal... and because I’m all over the place and ramble on. Anyways, I must go before the big man catches me. I really shouldn’t be in here before they’re ready to start the testing. Goodbye for now, my little bird.” She then left as fast as she came. I’m now left alone once again.

I'm stuck there for what felt like hours just staring at the ceiling and tugging at my restraints every once in awhile. I'm so bored. I know I should be worried, but I'm just bored. Ugh. I thought being tied up would be more interesting than this. All I've been doing for the past million decades is count these stupid tiles and how many times the A.C kicks on. Jesus, I'm cold. I'm then pulled out of my thoughts again when I hear more people come in. A guy stands over my face and examines me for a moment. “Alright. Do you have the stuff ready?” he says as he turns away from me and speak to what I am going to assume are the other doctor people thingys.

I'm gassed once again and now unconscious.

Great.
