A couple weeks had passed since my last conversation with Mira Jean.

As per her request, I didn't try to talk to her again, mostly knowing that if I pushed my luck too much it would end badly.

Instead, Rose and I had gotten closer. I had taken her out to restaurants, the movies and a lake side picnic so far. I also stayed after school to see her cheerleading practice and left with Chase. And just yesterday I asked her to homecoming so I think it's pretty safe to say that we were dating.

I chuckled as I nabbed a parking spot right at the exit of the school parking lot. Today was the first soccer game of the season and tomorrow the homecoming dance. Rose and Chase were already here given the fact the cheerleaders and soccer team stayed at school after classes. I chuckled as supporters from the other school were having a light-hearted standoff with some people from my class.

This a pure friendly match but everyone knew that this match would establish our position for the season. I wasn't a huge fan of soccer, being a football player myself, but I understood the pressure and significance of this match.

I stood at the entrance to the field. The bright lights made the fresh white paint almost glow against the freshly cut grass. Students from the two schools were already filling the bleacher talking loudly, some Bridgewater students had their faces painted in the green and white school colours. I doubled back and headed to the locker rooms. I knocked on the door for the girls' locker room first. Lisa poked her head out from behind the door and I grinned.

"Rose!" she called, "Ryder's here!" I rolled my eyes as the girls in the room "ohhhed"

"Hello love," I greeted Rose as she slipped out of the room and closed the door behind her.

"Hey Ryder," Rose looked up at me. Her cheerleading uniform fit her just right and her makeup was perfect, her eyeliner was green and white but everything else was just her regular makeup. It looked like she wasn't wearing any but after a trip to the mall, Rose taught me that "natural" makeup look is usually achieved with a lot of products.

"Excited for tonight?" I wrapped my arms around her waist as hers made their way to my neck.

"Yup," she grinned, "everyone is nervous about the new routine but I'm sure we'll be fine."

"Of course you girls have been practising nonstop," I reassured her.

"Do I get a good luck kiss?" Rose asked mischievously. I smiled and tilted her head up before kissing her softly. It wasn't our first kiss and for now, I didn't think it would be our last.

"Good luck," I murmured to her. Rose smiled and bit her lip before turning around and heading back into the locker room. "Good luck everyone!" I called out, grinning when I received a "Thanks Ryder" in return.

"How we feeling boys?" I grinned as I walked into the boys' locker room. Some of the guys were chilling, the others were warming up, getting the blood flowing and fighting the nerves. They grunted in response and I laughed as I sat next to Chase.

"You're going to win this," I told him.

"I know we're going to win."

"No pressure or anything but we haven't made it to regionals in the past 5 years."

"I know Ryder."
