Alirah.

-          Odessa

We had only taken a few steps before another realisation hit me which forced me to freeze in my tracks, I could see Clouse taking a few steps into the corridor before he stopped to speak to one of the guards situated at the top of the stairs. Giving the sounds of a small squeak I retracted my arms from Alirah and James, turning around and hightailing it back into the room, leaving behind two very puzzled beings as they watched my retreating back with questioning eyes.

“Odessa, what on earth are you doing?” Alirah asked as she followed me, only to find that I was pulling out random dresses from the trunk as I slightly panicked.

   “Voss!” I hissed.

“What about him? Clouse wont suspect a thing because he won’t come in here unless you are here, which is why we need to leave, now.”

“Not that, Voss was hugging me, Clouse will smell his scent on me!” I explained, hoping that she would understand my hushed words as I didn’t want to speak any louder in case Clouse would overhear.

Understanding finally dawned across her features and she turned to open the door slightly to hiss something to James before quickly shutting the door once more. When she made sure that it was locked she helped me rummage around in the trunk, looking for something that would cover Voss’s scent on my arms. Finally I found what I was looking for; the dress was long sleeved and floor length, the deep red material hugged my figure and gave me a feminine look that a proper lady would have. Alirah found some flowers and strategically placed them throughout my hair, twisting it up in some places so that it hung away from my face. I could vaguely hear James talking to Clouse outside the door, their voices too muffled by the thick wood to understand. Once Alirah was certain that we could go out undetected we emerged from the room, causing the men to halt their conversation in mid-sentence as they noticed something that I could not see as I held my head down to look at the floor.

“Uh, please forgive her my lord” Alirah started “Odessa is feeling a little vulnerable after discovering that others have seen her scars” she explained.

Playing along with the charade I cupped my left elbow with my hand and turned my head slightly, refusing to look up as if there was something completely interesting on the ground that I didn’t want to miss. Chuckling softly Clouse answered Alirah with an amused tone.

“There is nothing to forgive Alirah. I understand that some things are hard to consider when you are human, especially when it comes to others looking at your bare flesh when you are unaware of it. Being self-conscious will embarrass a lot of people.”
