To: Anybody

It was me. I confess. I did it and no one knows. Just imagine: no one ever will. I hid the evidence well, don't you think?

She was just an enemy, nothing really. Some get them by the dozens-often they come and go like leaves on a tree, merging and transfiguring throughout the changing seasons. She was, perhaps, a fleeting whisper, a quickened glance or some mere afterthought.

She wasn't perfect or broken; pretty or plain. Nor was she different from the rest. Not until that summer. The summer that changed everything. It was when the tainted fruit perished and the severed leaves fluttered, confetti in the passing breeze plummeting from the tree: graceful, graceless.

After eight weeks, years had been turned back and whole memories depleted from mind. Of course though, who are we kidding, some things will, inevitably, come back to haunt you.

Did you miss me? Don't fret. I was always there and now I'll be watching.
