Rosemarie’s POV
I got up to go to the bathroom after she went up on stage. I walk through the center aisle. I see Dominic at the end and meet up with him.
“Dom, we can’t let Alice “hypnotize” her” I tell him
“I can change the pattern of the pendulum before she realizes what Nadia is, if I can get a good view” Dominic replies.
“C’mon, I can get you up there” I say pointing to the empty balcony.
“I can work with that” He says confidently.
I run as quickly and stealthy as possible. There’s a locked door leading to the staircase.
“Working here has its perks you know” He says pulling out a bunch of keys. “I got this, you go, Athena might be worried”
I nod and hurry back as Dom gets on the balcony. I watch him, nervously, from my seat. The pendulum swings at a steady pace, but the rhythm changes, becoming unstable. Alice looks tense as she tries to control it, but Dominic makes it hard to. Alice becomes distressed and thinks fast by snapping her fingers. Nadia awakens instantly, her breathing is heavy and rapid. She stumbles off stage.
“Sorry to cut the show short, but a family emergency came up and I’m sorry on my behalf” She apologizes. “I’m really sorry for any inconvenience. You’ll get half your money back.”
Everyone groaned and booed, but they got most of their money back. Athena took the disoriented Nadia to the bathroom. She quickly emptied the stadium and met up with me.
“YOU!” Alice screams, heatedly.
“We had to! Do you know what Nadia possesses?” I bite back.
“What?” She replies, confused.
“She has some type of psychic ability, but I’m having a hard time figuring her out. I can’t get accurate test results from her.” I reply.
“Have you even tried palm reading” She asks.
“No, there hadn’t been any opportunities to do it.” I respond.
“Well, what are you waiting for? Right now is a perfect time.” She spoke too soon.
Athena and Nadia are walking down the hall together, chatting about something.
“I spoke too soon” Alice chuckles.
“You don’t say?” I say sarcastically.
“I’m going to go find Dom, okay?” Alice changes the subject. “So he can meet you guys.”
Nadia’s POV
“What do you remember?” Athena questions
“I went up on stage and then to the bathroom with you” I reply, confused.
She drops the subject, nervously. We walk around the stage area. I notice a tall silhouette on the opposing balcony.
“Hey, Athe, do you see that?” I say, pointing to the balcony.
“There’s nothing there” She states.
“Look! It moved!” I holler.
The silhouette must’ve heard me because if moved. Great. Now, I look like a crazy idiot.
“C’mon, you must be seeing something” She says, dragging me away.
We meet up with Rosemarie. She sits on the bench, a section of her face illuminated by her cellphone screen. She’s too busy texting away on it. We wait until she realizes. Rosemarie looked up and jumped.
“OH-MI-GOD!! How long have you guys been standing there?” Rosemarie exclaims.
I look at my invisible watch before responding. “About 5 minutes” I say, mockingly.
“Ha. Ha. Very funny.” Rosemarie says and rolls her eyes.
“Hey, Rose, where’s Dominic?” Athena asks.
“Dominic Who?” I question.
“Oh, look, there he is” Rosemarie point to him.
He’s walking with a woman. She looks a lot like Erie.
“Hey” The Erie look-a-like greets. “Nadia, this is Dominic. Dominic, Nadia.”
“Nice to finally meet you Nadia. Athena has told me tons about you.” He says, looking at me, giving me a firm handshake.
“Really?” I say, confused. Athena tells him stories about me?
He runs his hand through his black mop. His build is lean and muscular. I can’t help but look at him. He’s sexy. I admit to myself.
