Dan's POV (in third person)
dan sat across from louise, a smile upon his face. "who was that?" louise asks dan in a teasing tone.
"no one, just some guy who bumped into me." he shrugged. "well he was checking you out, he is kinda cute." she said.
"heeey! your dating me remember?!" dan whined in a pouty voice, as if offended by her calling phil cute.
"oh shush dan, i know we're dating! and plus you're way cuter than him anyways." dan chuckles and takes a sip of his hot chocolate. after a few more sips he's done with his hot drink and begins to unwrap a pooptart "can i have one?" louise asks him.
dan nods and gives her one as he pops his into his mouth "we've got about eight minutes before breakfast is over." he says, mouth full of poptart. louise simply nods as she gulfs her food down.

dan walks into his first class which is maths. he takes his seat in the very back in the corner. today he's a bit early for class so he takes his journal out along with his sketch pencils. he opens to a clean page and taps his pencil, thinking of what to draw. 'maybe a rose for lou' he thinks. he finally decides that he's going to draw a rose and begins to draw. soon people start to pile in, filling the seats. he as no friends in this class so he doesn't bother to look up and see who's here.
someone sits in the desk beside him, he looks over and sees a girl, 'Linda Carter' he thinks. Linda is a very sweet girl who often gets teased for her small size and her timid-squeaky voice. dan used to have a crush on her in 2nd grade but that was ages ago. but dan still can't get over her little cute voice, so he decides to greet her. "hello lindy.." dan shyly greets, anxious she won't talk to him because of his puppy love he expressed to her by drawing a shaky lined heart for her in 2nd grade. "hello daniel." she smiles, dimples in he cheeks. dan recalls her voice always sounding excited, like she was on helium and constantly on a sugar high. nothing about her has changed.
"can i see your drawing...?" she asks sheepishly. dan looks surprised, "y-you wanna see my drawing?" "isn't that what i asked..?" she giggles. a small smile crosses his face, "sure" he replies, handing her the journal.

' he thought. he started to think about how hard he tries to make louise happy and all the stuff he does, all the gifts, all compliments, all the cute nicknames, everything. none of it seem t get her attention though. yes, she'd smile and thank him but it wasn't.. genuine.

"hey!" a happy sounding voice called. dan turned around, his eyes landing on raven haired noodle heading his way. "it's me! from the cafeteria this morning!" the boy calls again. "yes i remember you, how could i forget you checking me out?" dan says, earning a soft blush from phil. "hey!i was not checking you out!"phil protests "oh yeah? then what were you doing?" dan asks. "err- it was- your shoes i was looking at your shoes." he says as he looks at dans unfashionable-mix-matched shoes. "they're untied." phil says. "and i have no intention of tying them." dan remarks. phil chuckles, "you should sit next to me today, you know be partners." phil says. "and why should i? i have a loving girlfriend i could work with.. so why should i work with you?" dan never really acts like this but he is and he's going to stick with it. he already knew as soon as phil had invited him he would join him and partner up yet he decided to be difficult. "oh well you can work with your girlfriend i'll just work with chris." he turned to go to his own seat beside chris. dan stood up, "i'll work with you."
