"here." spencer says, tossing an ice pack to ryan, who's groaning in pain. ryan ignores him and puts the pack onto his stomach, laying back into the couch. "a thank you would be nice."

"i should be saying fuck you." ryan responds. he kicks at spencer's side when he tries to sit next to him on the couch.

"big deal, you got your ass whooped." spencer shrugs.

"yea, but i wasn't the one who was supposed to get my ass whooped. it was supposed to be you." ryan reminds him. "that's the last time i ever let you drag me to anything."

"but you said-" spencer starts.

"yes, i know what i said." ryan stops him.

"i recall you saying you'll owe me for the rest of your life." spencer keeps going.

"yea, because i was 17 and living on the streets. you let me live with you when i had nothing, of course i would say something like that." ryan responds.

"whatever, dude." spencer turns on the tv to whatever channel it can pick up.

"how long are you going to keep up with that?" ryan asks. "that you think i owe my whole life to you?"

ryan knows spencer is ignoring him. he pretends like he's too focused on the tv, which is playing the weather, to answer ryan's question.
