Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter
It didn't take too long for Harry to explain to Neville his situation, even with the many disruptions the latter had provided with questions. For most of the part Harry had felt rather uncomfortable so he had talk quicker than usual. Neville was such a curious boy, Harry had observed, wanting to know most secrets and more details. It added to the oddness of the boy as Neville would probably forgot many of the details he'd asked for. They'd eaten fast and finished their breakfast even before Harry had started talking. Though they had talked quickly it was about the tme most students would leave breakfast Once Harry had finished talking Neville asked him a probably not last question.
"Why aren't you telling Ron any of this?" Harry was unsure of himself at this point. Was it because he'd be afraid of what might Ron say? Hermione had been more than happy to know the secret and Harry was closer to Ron than her. Perhaps. It was actually the only reason though. He knew Hermione wouldn't be disgusted or weirded out by him nor Neville. So why isn't he feeling the same with Ron? Maybe it was the simple fact that he was closer to him. Harry cleared his throat.
"Well, I'm not really sure of what his reaction might be." Harry answered looking at the tall ceiling.
"That's all?" Neville said, surprised. He'd been expecting something more. He didn't know what more that could be but he was sure there be something more to Harry's problem. Neville laughed, "Harry, you worry too much. I'm positive he wouldn't care very much and even if he did i doubt there would be a change between you two. "
Harry sighed. Neville was right, yet he still didn't want to tell anyone else. "I dunno, Neville. But I'm getting tired of repeating the same story." He lied.
"You've only told it twice." Neville had to point out while Harry groaned.
'Well then I'm tired of talking in general. What time is it?' Neville looked at his watch.
"Time for us to head to class as we are late!" True enough, class had begun a few minutes ago. Harry nodded and yelled for Dobby, which caused almost all the kitchen elves to arrive, to inform him they were leaving. Neville ran to the exit and started to tap his foot impatiently. Harry laughed.
"Neville, you worry too much." He teased as Neville opened the exit. Neville shrugged the teasing off, he was pretty used to all the comments made by the Slytherins, it shouldn't be at all different now. On their way out, Harry lifted up his foot to late to exit the portrait, cuasing him to trip.
"Omph!" He stumbled enough to fall right on his stomach. Neville looked back in shocked. Wasn't he supposed to be the clusmy one?
"Harry! Hurry, we are going to be late." he whined. Harry mumbled something that Neville couldn't hear, as he was still faced down on the floor. "What?" Harry started to rise from his position.
"I said thanks for the help." He said sarcastically. Neville nodded but said, "Well, technically it is your fault that we're late in the first place so you still have to hurry." Harry rolled his eyes and they started to walk.
They paced through the halls in silence. There weren't any prefects at the moment so Harry took his tine, confident Professor Lupin wouldn't mind the two boys being late. Neville, however, was anxious. it wasn't the first time he was late. Most of the times he was it was because he would forget where he put his required equipment for the first class. Luckily the Defense Against the Dark Arts class wasn't too far, letting them make sure they had everything in their bag. As Neville took out his wand he asked Harry another question.
"Why don't you just learn a spell to get the paper back?"
"i had already thought of that for a moment but it would be too much trouble since those spells are a bit more advanced."
"Then why don't you just ask a professor about them?" Neville suggested. Harry shrugged.
"I s'pouse I could always ask professor Lupin but i'm assuming he would want to know why i would need the spells in the first place..." They both quieted as they entered the doorway of the classroom, Harry entering first. "Sorry for being late Professor Lupin but I was helping Neville find his homework report that was due." He lied. Neville nodded in confirmation. Lupin gestured for them to come in, where in the class room there was a large trunk.
"Well that's fine. Just don' let it happen again. Hand me your essay reports and walk to the back of the classroom." The boys did so and went to where he other students where standing. Harry and Neville ended up between two giggling Slytherin girls, unfortunately, who were trying to talk to each other. They both felt really uncomfortable as they obviously couldn't just more across the room. They tried but no one would move out of their way. Most of the Gryffindors seemed to be on the other side of the room, including Ron, Harry guessed he had showed up to class without Hermione, and Hermione herself. Meanwhile Proffesor Lupin stated to explain what they were doing for the class.
"Now, if you recall we did a lesson on boggarts early in the year, our first class in fact. As they will be on your O.W.L.'s I've decided we'll give them another shot. Who can tell the class what a boggart is?" Many hands shot up in the air but Professor Lupin chose on Theodore Nott, another Slytherin in Harry's year.
"A boggart is a magical creature that can shape-shift into any form that would be your biggest fear." Theodore said slowly and uncertainly. Professor Lupin smiled and awarded Slytherin 2 points.
"Very good Mr. Nott. How about we have an example of what to do if we ever stumble across a boggart? Any volunteers? Mr. Potter?" Harry looked up from his shoes which he was staring at and shook his head, terrified of the boggart.
How fast can they change their forms? What if it changed into something he didn't want them to see? Even if the boggart was still a dementor it was certainly a bad idea to Harry. It took a long time to master the patrounus and a lot of work. It wasn't worth the effort. The Slytherins laughed at the face he was making, including Draco.
Professor Lupin didn't seem to mind as he looked around the room until he found a student he couldn't remember stepping up to the boggart. "Alright, how about you Miss. Granger?" Hermione also had looked terrified at the thought of having to literally face her biggest fear. But, being the Gryffindor she was, she nodded and moved to the trunk. Bracing herself for the worse, Professor Lupin opened the chest.
