Prologue: "Sir. Sir! There is an emergency! The barricades are breached and the water is coming in!" The woman pants as she runs into the laboratory.
" How much time do we have?" The man asks with concern in his voice.
" A couple of hours. A day at the most!"
"I see." The man said portraying no emotion.
"But shouldn't we alert the public sir?" She asked confused.
"No need to panic them, there is nothing they can do." He says.
"But I thought..." She is cut off by a choked sob that escapes her throat. She scurries out of the room her brown hair trailing behind her.
As soon as she leaves the man turns back to his desk. He typed a few words onto his computer.
"I must get these pods out before the damned water comes!" He whispered angrily. Finally after a few minutes he rested back into his chair. A small smile of relief involuntarily appears on his face.
" If someone does survive this I hope the pod is found." He whispers to himself again.
The man leans in towards his computer screen and presses the off button, most likely for the last time in his life. Tears threaten to come but he holds them back, for he doesn't want to be the crazy person who can't accept the fact that his death is inevitable.
He pulls open the drawer right by his desk and pulls out a small notebook.
" Today will most likely be my last day on earth. I have sent out the survival pods, which if any human in America survives will be aids in the strange weather occurrences that will happen due to the flood. I did not want to end my life this way, but it appears it will be death by water." He said as he wrote in the journal.
The man placed the journal down on his desk and leaned back into his chair and waited. He waited for the water to come.
