The first lesson was Hunting, which involves how to use the right equipment, how to speak to ghosts to lure them, and how to be on the right path. Jennie was always the smarter child, but all Candice was thinking of was Dillon. "Ah, Candice Sarla. Would you like to tell me which tactic you use?" The teacher Mr. Gritdeh asked innocently, which left Candice like a statue.
Eventually, she replied, "Oh, yeah, you have to speak about a connection that will mean something dear to their heart, like a loved one." Mr. Gritdeh knew she wasn't paying attention, but she wasn't wrong. "We were all just talking about what you had to do, and that was talking. You may be in your own world, but since you answered that question better than expected, you will be let off. Candice, would you like to introduce yourself to the class?" Candice didn't have a problem with this, after all, she was a social butterfly. So, she got up from her desk, and walked to the front of the class, *clip clop* her small heels went.
"Hello, my name is Candice Sarla, I am twins with Jennifer, my parents are dead... Hopefully, I will be able to see them after I will get a degree. Also, I have a part-time job as a paranormal detective. So yeah, sorry about day-dreaming, I just didn't get that much sleep." She slightly skips to her desk, with a cheeky smirk on her face. The rest of the lesson was explaining Candice's answer. The bell rings, and the girls take their hour break to set their workplace at the headquarters."Oh, hello Jennifer. Hello Candice. I thought you two weren't coming here until a bit after 3 o'clock." Dillon said surprised. Candice gave him a flirty grin, whereas Jennie just rolled her eyeballs dramatically. "We aren't here long, just setting things up during the research break." explains Jennie, as she walks over to her empty workspace: a desk cut off by a semi-wall. Candice has the same look, only her desk is close to Dillon's office on the top floor (floor 5), and Jennie's is near the entrance of the second floor.
"Well, um, hope it meets your expectations. If you need anything before you go back to uni, then I'll be in my office." Dillon kindly offers. Of course, unless you haven't notice the obvious hints, Candice and Dillon sort-of like-like each other. Dillon hasn't made a move because of his orders, and Candice, well... you don't know?
Oh, Jennie had a boyfriend around a year or two ago, and Candice was just like how Jennie is whenever Candice flirts with Dillon. Anyway, Jennie's ex-boyfriend (Bryan) dumped her and then thought he could be with Candice, instead Candice gave him a black eye and he never met the Sarla family again. He was too afraid.
So since that day, Jennie has always looked down upon love, instead she fell in love with work, always revising, doing homework, doing research. Trying to find her parents, so that she can get the many answers she missed as a child. It was nearly time to head back to the university, but the girls still had 10 minutes to spend at the headquarters. "So, what do you really do, detective?" Candice asks, as Dillon exits his office. He answers, "Well, I make sure all cases have someone tagged with it, I double check the story has a connection to the village, stuff like that." "Do you ever go on a case yourself, since you are, officially and professionally speaking, a detective?" "No, I used to, but my last case I nearly died, so my father made it my job to stay at the headquarters. And before you ask, I do miss it terribly. My father being Mayor wasn't the only reason I wanted this job, it was for adventure, but I can't really do that, can I?"
Just as Candice stands right in front of him, Jennie walks in,"Candice we... We are leaving RIGHT NOW!" Jennie grabs her wrist and storms into the lift, and as the door closes, Candice mouths the words 'I'm sorry' to Dillon, as he replies by mouthing the words, 'I'll see you soon,' and waves his hand goodbye.
"How dare you betray me like that." Jennie mumbles to Candice. "When you were dating Bryan, I didn't approve, but I knew you loved him, so I didn't interfere-" "AND LOOK WHAT HAPPENED! HE WENT TO YOU! Like everyone else, they always liked you, not me, but you always turned them away, so why do you do this to me now?" Jennie stands still in horror of her behaviour, and as soon as the lift doors open, she runs out. Candice chases after her, and they both get to their lesson (which is History) in time.
Jennie answers every question, always looking at the front, never looking at Candice. At 2:45, the class is finishing up, and Jennie asks to be excused as she doesn't feel well and needs to go to medical. She is given work to finish, plus homework, then is excused, but before she leaves she tells Candice, "Don't see me, don't speak to me, just give me my work when you get home. And I don't care what you do. Goodbye Flora." And she swiftly walks out of the classroom.
'Flora, the heck? She is clearly unwell.' Candice thinks to herself. The bell rings shortly after, she packs her books and leaves to go to work. She was going to say goodbye to Jennie, but she said to not meet or speak to her. Like a threat. She has a bad thought about her twin sister and runs to the headquarters. With a panting breath and hands on knees, she pants,"Is my apartment haunted?" Dillon and the Mayor look at each other. "Miss C. Sarla, every single home is haunted, what's happened that has gotten you so worried?" Mayor Wright proclaims, then Candice explains what happened to her sister near the end of class.
"Flora, wait. I think there is a file about a 'Florence' who used to live in your apartment." Dillon speaks as he gains a lightbulb. He sort-of jogs to his office, opens a drawer and searches for a specific file. He takes out one. "Here it is, 'Florence Malle', she. She lived there with..." Dillon trails off. "Dillon, what? She lived there with who?" Candice asks with her heart aching with fear. He looks up and finally replies, "With her twin sister." Everyone is shocked, and the air becomes tense. "That isn't the only problem, the twin sister was called Genevieve, but for short, she called her Gennie."
