The man was sturdy

To have been able to lift the firewood

He was careful of his belongings

Says the locked shed along with the hidden one

The dented mailbox with mail still left

Means he left too quickly

A woman was present in this place

Says the flower beds left to grow

She admired beautiful things

Speaks the floral tablecloth and bouquet on the table

The clothes line, left broken and decayed

Shows she had other occupants at one time

The old and rusty wagon

Shows a child was around

Along with the faded chalk drawing

They've been gone for awhile

States the dusty car with the license plate expired Sept. 2009

They didn't plan to leave

Speaks the belongings left behind

For relatives to remember them by

The ones who were left behind

Like the child with the wagon

Poem explanation: During school our English teacher took us to an abandoned home where we were to write a poem about it. We were also told to predict what happened to the family, as everything was still left where it was when they were there. I hope you enjoyed this neat little poem as much I did writing it :)
