The storm poured on around Ashkit in this strange dream. He watched a gray-blue she-cat who he somehow felt a connection to run across the grass in the forest. She seemed not afraid, but happy, maybe she was racing someone. He heard a crack of thunder and the lighting illuminated the sky. A crack splintered across the night and then a bang, the silence was broken by yowls. Could that cat could have gotten hurt?!? He heard cats calling a name, 'Mistlight', Who could that be? Ashkit heard a bush rustling behind him and jumped, a cat looking exactly like him came out of the bush, it was probably a little older, probably an apprentice. This cat was creeping him out, who is he? Which clan is he in? Is he the reason people look at my fur differently? Too many questions crowded Ashkit's mind, he watched the cat and everything went black, the dream ended. Ashkit woke up and, of course, Milkkit and Cherrykit were playing. Ashkit sat up and licked down his fur. He heard noises above him and then Honeystar's voice,
"All cats old enough to catch their own prey gather under the highledge!" Ashkit slowly got up and padded outside out of the nursery. He looked up at Honeystar, "Milkkit, you have reached 6 moons and it is time you've become an apprentice, step up please." I wonder what Cherrykit will do when Milkkit is an apprentice, "Milkkit, from this day forward, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Milkpaw, Blossomfeather will be your mentor." Ashkit looked up at Honeystar, she sat there watching the clan, she looked as if she was thinking of something, then she turned away and padded off into the tunnel to her den. Ashkit padded back into the nursery, What's Cherrykit going to do now that Milkpaw is an apprentice? He doubted she would bother him, he sat down in his nest and waited, Cherrykit came in.
"Wanna play mossball?" she asked.
"Sure" Ashkit sighed, what else could he do. Cherrykit picked up a ball of moss and batted it towards him, he batted it back, that's what you're supposed to do, right?
"Hey wait," Ashkit began, he didn't quite understand or like this game, "wanna go to Tigertail for stories?"
"Sure!"
"Follow me!" Ashkit half walked and half ran, he looked into the warriors den but didn't see Tihertail. Wait, I know where she is. He padded out of the camp entrance and saw Tigertail sitting by the river.
"What are you doing out here?" Tigertail asked, her voice had joy in it even though anyone who didn't know her much would think she's angry.
"We want to hear a story!"
"What Story do you want to hear?"
Ashkit looked to Cherrykit for an answer,
"When you were first a warrior!"
"I'll have to think about that, that was quite a while ago," Tigertail thought a moment and told her story.
