She was here. Her copper hair fell in loose waves down her shoulders and her blue eyes sparkled in the evening light. Her face lit up when she saw me and smiled that gorgeous, dimpled smile that any guy would die for.
"Hi Jesse" she said cheerfully.
"Hi Sally" I replied as I stared into her eyes.
"How was your summer?" She asked as she sat down on the river bank. This is where we come at the end of every summer. We met here at sunset when we were 6 years old and she had just moved here. Every summer, Sally's Parents send her to a summer school, with all the money they have I don't see why they need to though. At the start of every school year we meet up here at sunset. We have been doing this for 11 years straight, of course a lot has changed over the years.
"Not to bad" I muttered breaking our gaze. "Trent and I went camping in the woods and almost got lost a few times".
She laughed. God I loved her laugh.
She was way out of my league, so to even have her as a best friend was a long shot but no matter what I did, she still put up with me."How was yours" I asked.
"Same as always" she replied with no emotion. She never really enjoyed the summer. She wanted to be like a normal 17 year old and spend the summer swimming and going to parties but her parents found her to 'proper' for that.Suddenly out of nowhere her face lit up like a light bulb. "I'm exited to go back to school though" she smiled "see my friends, see Dylan".
In case you were wondering, Dylan is the school heart throb. He is the most attractive guy there is and Sally is madly in love with him. So with my pale complexion and scruffy brown hair, I stand no chance. Sally will do anything for him but unfortunately he doesn't feel the same. You see Sally (with her lack of teenage experience) is quite naive. And Dylan just treats her like he treats any other attractive girl, like a kind of toy. Frankly I find it sickening, the fact that he just uses them for a while and then grows bored and gets rid of them. I'm just waiting for the day when he gets sick of Sally, and seeing her hurt is a worse feeling then seeing her with someone else.
