-The Invitation-Chapter 3

Archies pov:

Prom is coming up very quickly and the one person I want to invite is taken, Betty. No I want to invite Veronica, I don't like Betty, I can't like Betty. What was I thinking it would have never worked out anyway. I like Veronica she's my girlfriend anyway I have to invite her. I don't want to do anything fancy to invite her i'll just ask her. I remember when Betty and I were younger we decided we wanted to be prom king and queen together and have that dance together, in a platonic way of course, but now times has changed and we have drifted a lot, I miss being best friends with her. I snap back to reality as I hear a buzz from my phone, from Betty.

"Do you know if Juggie would like to come to prom with me because he's a serpent now" Betty texts. I look out my window to see Betty looking into mine.

"Ye" I say being a bit passive aggressive for some reason.

"k" She replies.

I don't know why it makes me annoyed when she talks about Jughead especially now that he's a serpent.

Bettys pov:

Prom is so soon and I want to invite Jug but a bit of me wants to go with Arch, but i'm dating Jug and Archies dating V so no I don't want to go with Archie. I need to get a dress so V and I decide to go out shopping today.

We arrive at the shop and try on dresses. Veronica decides to go with a short black one. I see a really nice pink one but jug wouldn't like that so I go with a long red one. "Thanks V so much for paying, I really could of bought it myself" I say while she swipes the card into the machine. "Its nothing really B" she says while smiling at me. We go around shopping some more, I buy a pair of shoes and a clutch. I head home with bags of clothes in my hands, I was nervous but now i'm excited for Prom. I pick up my phone to text Jughead.

"I was wondering would you like to go to prom with me next week" I say looking at my phone nervous for the reply.

"Sure" he says.

A weight has just lifted off my shoulders. I now have everything ready for prom.

~The next day~

Archies pov:

I walk over to Veronica and Betty talking. "Hey Arch" Betty says while giving me a smile. "Hey girls, what are you talking about" I say while sitting beside them. "Prom" they say at the same time then look at each other and give a small laugh. "Betty's gonna get ready at my house so you and Jug come to mine to collect us" Veronica says. "Sure what time" I say. "around 7:30 so we have enough time to take pictures" Veronica says while standing up. "Well I have to go, I have to help decorate the hall because I promised Cheryl" she says while walking away. "Bye V" Betty says while waving. "What are you wearing to prom" I say starting a conversation. "A red dress" she says while getting her phone out to text someone. "That sounds nice" I say trying to get her attention but she keeps on looking at the phone. "Who are you texting" I say trying to talk to her realizing it sounds nosey. "Juggie, he got into trouble in school and he asked me to get him out, he always asks me to do this now" she says while she keeps her eyes locked on the phone. "Don't help him he cant just use you " I say knowing that Jughead's taking Betty for granted knowing that she would do anything for him. "I've got to go" she says walking away. I know she's going to help Jughead. Jughead's changing Betty, controlling what she does and wears, it's unfair because she is so in love with him that she doesn't notice.
