"Christmas break!" I walked outside and twirled in the snow, sticking my tongue out. Sam chuckled behind me. "What?"
"Nothing."
"C'mon, its fun." I smiled. I loved winter so much, it had so much cheer and love. If I saw kids on my street playing in the snow, I would always put on my gear and join them.
Sam smiled and looked up at the sky. He stayed frozen like that for a few moments, just blinking in the falling snow. I watched him pull his hands out from his worn out tan leather jacket. He lifted his hands up like a T and stuck his tongue out. I laughed, nodded my approval, and joined him.
Eventually, sadly, we stopped and walked to my car. Once we were both inside and I had started it, Sam shuck the snowflakes out of his brown hair.
"Watch the dash, Sam!" I slapped his arm. I hated the water stains on it. My car must be SPOTLESS.
"Sorry!" his cheeks flushed pink. He did this so much it was just normal to me. Part of his nature.
We sat in silence for a while just watching the pretty snow as we drove. The ground sparkled like a kid spilled glitter all over the place, but it just made it better because sparkles are frickin amazing.
"What are you doing over break?" Sam broke the quiet.
"Going to Tennessee to visit my cousins. You?"
"Staying home. We never go anywhere on break." he said it with a little pout.
Suddenly, I had an idea.
"Hey, you should come with me to Tennessee!" I beamed at Sam, and he flinched at my sudden outburst.
"Um, will your mom be okay with it?"
"Yeah, totally, she loves you! C'mon Sam it'll be fun!" I begged. He let out a heavy breath, but within moments smiled and nodded.
"Great. We'll ask tonight. Deal?" I was so excited he was coming along. That meant the trip would be 10x more fun!
"Deal." he said with a smile.
Road trip!!!
Well actually we were traveling by plane, but you get the flow, right?

"Charlie!" I squealed and hugged my cousin, and she shared my excitement. I hadn't seen her in years!
"Tony!" I let go of Charlie, and crouched down to give the cutest five year old to ever walk this earth a hug.
"Reeree?" he looked up and frowned in confusion.
"Yes?"
"Who's that?" he pointed behind me and I turned around to see Sam standing in the doorway with our luggage, breathing heavily.
"That is my best friend Sam," I stood up and grabbed my suitcase. "and he did not need to carry all that luggage up the hill!" I tapped the side of his head hard.
"Ouch!" he squeaked and clamped a hand over the spot. I laughed as he glowered at me.
"Jay, they're here!" my aunt's voice rang out. "Ria!" she gave me a warm smile, then noticed the boy next to me.
"And Sam! Wow, you grew! Boy, you are handsome now aren't you?" She said, shocked. They knew each other because last time, about three years ago, my aunt, uncle, and two cousins came up for thanksgiving and Sam was also there.
I laughed as his face turned bright red and he shyly mumbled a "Thank you" to her.
"All of you, come in! Dinner will be ready real soon."
"Thank you, Auntie!" I chirped, then turned to Charlie.
"Let's catch up in my room! Sam, you can come too." she smiled. We linked arms and skipped up down the hall with Sam at our heels, still a tomato from my aunt's comment.
"So," Charlie smiles as she shut the door behind us. "how's life?" Charlie and I sat on her bed as Sam was sitting in a fluffy pink chair-which made me laugh a little. It looked like he was sitting in a fluffy pink va-
Nevermind.
"Good. School sucks, but I have a B average." I shrugged.
"I have an A average." Sam teased.
"Shut up, nerd!" I rolled my eyes, laughing.
"Love interests?" she winked. Typical Charlie. At age 19, she was still a tad bit boy crazy and in the gossip.
"A few considerations, nothing special." I shrug again then smirk evilly.
"But this guy," I jabbed a finger at where Sam was sitting, who was giving me a curious look. I laughed and leaned in to Charlie's ear. "he's got girls, he just doesn't know it."
Charlie laughs and when I look at Sam, he's giving me a curious yet lethal glare. I shrugged at him and smiled. He have me a tense smile tand looked at his feet.
"Wow, Samuel Joseph Woolf, lighten up!" I laugh.
Lighten up.
I worry.
We can't go through that again.
Please.
