The Meeting

After I had my hunch, I was sure I was right. The guardman, Teddy as I would call him, monitors who goes in and out of the neighborhood. Even though no one had gone in or out on the day of the kidnapping, they could have gone in or out on the day before or after. Teddy checked his monitor for before and after the attack, and turns out I was right. Jacob Hunnington had checked out of the neighborhood about 7 hours after Lucy had been abducted. He apparently left a note for us. When Teddy gave it to me, I was scared. I opened it and it read:

Dear Hannah,

So I guess you have figured out that I am one of the people responsible for abducting Lucy. It felt so good to see her not smiling. She always suspected me as a creep and I wanted to get back at her. I need some money for a little something for me. Give me 1 million dollars and I will return Lucy safely to you. You have 6 days to come to the meeting that I have set up. An activation has been set for when you open this envelope. Your time is running out.

                                                                             Sincerely, (not really)

                                                                                               Jacob

After I read the letter I started walking home. Slowly. I wanted to think about this before I showed my parents. I had a few questions in my mind like, "How did he know my name and how did he know Lucy's?", "Where was the meeting exactly?", and most of all " Why was he treating Lucy like she was an item instead of an acual person?" These questions ran through my head as I got up the driveway of my house. I tried to sneak up to my room but that didn't work. My mom grabbed the note out of my hand. She had a confused look on her face as she got done reading it. When she got done reading it, she sat down on a chair and started to think. I knew that she was wondering all the questions that I did once I got done reading it. When my dad came in, he read it too. He did the same thing that my mom did. We were all surprised, but there was nothing that we could do at this point, because we didn't even know where the meeting is supposed to be!

"Ding dong." Thats what my family heard at 11:00 at night. We all groaned as we got out of bed. My dad was the first one to the door. He found someone standing outside our door, dressed in blue jeans and a blue sweatshirt. He told us that the meeting was going to be now. Right now! Seriously! I can barely keep my eyes open. The man had a low husky voice, but it was soft and gentle at the same time. That got my attention. I decided to listen. He was barely speaking but he said some interesting things. In a soft voice he whispered, "I know where your little girl is. She is hidden in a place not too far from here. I am part of the group that captured her, but she has not been hurt. The kidnappers want blank dollars. If you give us that money, she will be retuned safely." He gave us a minute to think. A few questions came into my mind, but one came out of my mouth without me knowing. "So if you are a part of the group, Jacob, then who else is in it?"
