It had been a stressful week. The job that Ruby had managed to score wasn't all it was cracked up to be - the clients were rude and they shorted her over $100, which meant problems for the family. Diana had presentations all week and missed a job interview because she had to make up a grade in her mathematics class. Both mother and daughter were exhausted by the town already.

So once she got home, the James girl decided that she would go to her room, curl in a ball and scream into her pillow. Yet, her plans were canceled when she opened the door to find a familiar wheelchair in her living room, with an even more familiar person sitting in it.

     "Uncle Charles!" the girl yelled.

The wheelchair spun around and the teenager didn't hesitate as she ran forward to hug the man. It had been quite a while since she had seen the telepath, which was based solely on the fact that the only time she ever really saw him was if he sensed that something was wrong.

The raven-haired girl sat on the couch in front of him. "Who'd you leave to run the school?"

"Hank should manage, he has Raven with him anyway."

She found herself laughing internally at the thought of her figurative aunt and uncle running a school full of children. They were almost children themselves.

"How is everyone?" she asked with a smile.

"I'm here to talk about you," the telepath said as he tilted his head. "How have you been Diana?"

The teenager sighed, "There haven't been any incidents if that's what you're asking. I've been really calm lately, and I don't know why."

Ruby finally poked her head out of the kitchen, a playful expression on her face. "It's because of a boy Charles."

Her uncle looked at her in surprise while she only sunk deeper into the couch. The girl tapped her nails together as she avoided the older man's expression, silently wishing her mom would have to leave at some point during the conversation.

     "What's his name?"

"Like you really need to ask me to find out!" the teenager was looking directly at him now, forcing herself not to smile.

The telepath only laughed, "You're right, but I'd rather not invade your privacy."

After a moment of silence, the girl budged. "Fine, his name is Peter. I'm not giving you a last name because you two would find some sort of connections."

The name brought up a red flag in Charles Xavier's mind, most notably one that recognized Peter as the mutant with enhanced speed. He wasn't wrong - but the only way to prove that he was right would to get into the younger mutant's mind. But she would know if he did that.

Keeping any indication of concern off of his face the older mutant replied, "If he helps you with your powers then that's fine, but if you get even the slightest out of control..."

"I know, I go straight to New York," Diana looked to her uncle with a faint smile. "Mom and I have talked about this a lot, but I don't think I'll need to."

Charles nodded before turning to Ruby, who had since been leaning against the entrance to the kitchen. "Please tell me you have some food, it was a long way here."

"Of course," the older James woman smiled at her long-time friend. "But I'm not making you anything."

The two began to joke as they left the room, and Diana waited until she knew for sure that they were gone before going up to her room. Peter was going to sneak into her room to hang out for a while, but it was a definite no now. The girl leaned out of her window once she made it up there, seeing her lover's silver hair in an instant.

"You have to go, my mom and uncle are home!" she whisper-yelled, half afraid that the adults would hear.

"I can just come up for a minute and leave afterwards." the boy proposed, making her shake her head.

"It's too big of a risk Peter," she sighed with her stomach pressed against the window pane. "I'd be grounded and then shipped to his house to live before you can say Quicksilver."

The teenage boy let out a sarcastic laugh at the girl's teasing. It was such a cringy name and they both knew it. However, he watched as she patiently waited on him to leave, still leaning out of the window.

"Hey, plan that dinner with your mom." he yelled up to her.

Her eyes widened before she let a wide smile appear. "You serious?"

"Yeah, three weeks from now at 7. Swear I'll be there."

Diana stood there in shock as he winked at her before jogging away. It took a minute for her to process his words, but even when she did she still stood there with a stupid smile on her face. The raven-haired teenager heard her mom call her name, making her close the window before making her way back downstairs.

Things were looking up for her.

A super short thing... I almost want to call it a filler but then again I don't. Sorry to disappoint you guys but this was just something to show the family dynamic between our beloved Charles Xavier and the James women. God I love them.

Anyways, more things will definitely happen between our lovebirds and their teenage-ness. But see y'all next update!
