"So why do you wish on these stones?" Chara questioned Asriel as they walked.

"A long time ago, monsters would whisper their wishes to the stars in the sky," Asriel explained. "If you hoped with all your heart, your wish would come true. Now, all we have are these sparkling stones on the ceiling..." he trailed off, looking up at the stones as he mentioned them.

"So? Don't you have any wishes to make?" Chara urged, tearing her eyes away from the ceiling stars to look at Asriel.

"...hmmm," Asriel's gaze was fixed on the sparkling stones, "just one, but..." he sighed and picked at a loose string on his sweater. Chara slowed, looking over at him expectantly. "It's kind of stupid."

"Don't say that!" Chara nudged him, smiling encouragingly. "C'mon, I promise I won't laugh."

"I dunno..." Asriel muttered, and Chara decided not to push him further. They strolled down the tranquil, bioluminescent path, listening to the babble of echo flowers and the trickling of quiet water.

"...hmmm... if I say my wish..." Asriel hummed, "you promise you won't laugh at me?" He looked at Chara, his soulful, dark eyes searching hers.

"Of course I won't laugh!" Chara grinned, and Asriel's discontented frown turned up into a shy smile. He sighed and stopped walking, looking up at the stones once more.

"Someday, I'd like to climb this mountain we're all buried under.
Standing under the sky, looking at the world all around... That's my wish," Asriel looked over at Chara, who cracked a smile and giggled quietly.

"...hey, you said you wouldn't laugh at it!" Asriel interjected, frowning. Chara tried to wipe the smile from her face, but failed.

"Sorry, it's just funny..." She turned her gaze up to the bright stones shining over them.

"That's my wish, too."
