Pulling into the temple hanger, Obi Wan forced himself back into reality. Thanking R4, Obi Wan began down the halls of the temple, carrying the small child. Not half way there, he was intercepted by Anakin, who as usual was overly curious about the mission. ''Master, what was the transmission, was the mission cool?''The words all stumbled out of his mouth, reminding Obi Wan just how young he was. "Is that a youngling?" Without waiting for a response, Anakin inspected the girl. He could sense her aura, but she seemed different from all the other younglings. Almost like a connection he had with a small togruta, only though he had met her once. As if on cue, the small child Anakin had been thinking about came bounding down the hall.
"Hello young one. What is your name?" Obi Wan politely asked. "Ahsoka. Ohhh, is that a youngling." Ahsoka said, attempting to see her face, standing on her toes. Chuckling to himself, Obi Wan bend down to her high, so she could see Loka. "Aww, she's so cute, I gotta go master, see you Anakin!" With that, Ahsoka skipped down the hall, to force knows where. 'I didn't know you knew any younglings Anakin." "Normally I don't but I don't know, she seemed...different." Obi Wan nodded, "Well, I best be off to the council, don't forget, you need to practise your lightsaber sequences, I'll see you soon." Obi Wan didn't quite catch what Anakin muttered under his breath, but it sounded like some huttenise curse word.
Mentally preparing himself, Obi Wan stood outside the door, waiting for the council. Finally he was let in. The Jedi Council all inspected Loka, their faces bore as many emotions as a rock would have. After what seemed like a year to Obi Wan, Mace Windu opened his mouth. ''Her name.'' No welcome, just straight to business, Obi Wan thought, they were becoming more like that these days, with all the trouble stirring. ''Loka, the records didn't show her last name, or her parents. Loka's is 3 months and 2 weeks old today.'' Obi Wan quickly spared a glance down, he needed something to make him happy.''Hm, find someone to look after her, you must." Yoda mused, "leave that to you, I do,"and with that final statement, Obi Wan nodded and left.
Satine didn't think it was possible to be more stressed, then she was currently. Death Watch were at it, again. On top of that, the Republic decided that it would be a good time to accelerate the trade agreement, which meant she was now frantically packing, to make sure she got to have a say in the matter, even though it was her planet. To make matters even better, her comlink was going off, and she just knew it was something that would add to her worries.
When Obi Wan's transmission appeared, Satine had to admit he was the last person she would have expected, not that she didn't want to see him, but he rarely called. ''Obi Wan, what can I do for you?'' ''Well my dear, it would seem that I'm in a bit of a situation.'' Now that was suspicious, Obi Wan calling her that he was in a situation. ''What kind,'' Satine said, the suspicion in her voice clear. "Well you see, I'm looking for someone to temporarily raise a youngling, because the Jedi council are beyond stupid." Satine was bewildered, she couldn't believe, she didn't even know what to say. She was being asked to adopt a child to raise her to only be taken back by the Jedi. Given how apparent her shock was, Obi Wan continued, "Her name is Loka, she reminded me of you, that's why you were the first person I called." Satine couldn't help but smile, and while her pride would never admit it, she really liked Obi Wan.
"She came from an orphanage, they were afraid, I don't think it was her though, some other external force." Obi Wan said. A wave of pity and sadness found its way to Satine. No child she live in a place where fear was present for those reasons, Satine knew all too well what it was like to live in fear. "I'll help you." She said, Satine was surprised by how strong her voice sounded, so was Obi Wan apparently, by the look on his face. "I can't believe you are going through with this, I can't believe I'm going through this." Obi Wan muttered to himself, but loud enough for Satine to hear. "We will do it together, well as much as we can." Obi Wan declared, he couldn't help it, he felt attached to the child, he knew it was bad, but it just felt so right. "I'll be on Coruscant in a few days for a meeting. Until then, you can have the joys and honours of being a parent, and from what I have heard, good luck.''Satine considered whether she should add something after that, but stopped herself, ending the communication. He was a jedi, it just wouldn't work.
Hiya, just re-editing this book (again I know), Anakin is about 11, I'm terrible at maths, so just go with it! Hope you enjoyed.
