OK. So this is not my best writing, but I wrote it when I was in the seventh grade and just decided to put it out here. So yeah. Let me know what you think.

The square was jam packed with people. You could hear the people saying “Move out of the way!” “You stepped on my foot!” or “Please don’t hurt me!” With those comments you knew they were waiting for something. But what? A silence overcame the People. The few who were still talking went quiet within a few moments.

“My friends,” a voice began, “Our time of suffering is over. For years we have lived with these conditions. The walls of our homes are covered with mold. We starve every day. Our children beg on the streets. As I stand here I say this, it is time for use to be equal! For us to be citizens! For us to have the same rights as those snobs known as the Rich! Our day has come! We will fight for our rights! We will fight for our equality! We will fight to be citizens! The Revolution is coming and they won’t know what hit them!”

With that the People gave a mighty cry. “Long Live the Republic!” Piper stepped down from the platform and allowed Will to take her place. “As you all have heard Rosetta is dead. The speaker for the People.  The Rich,” Will spat out the name as if it were venom, “will claim that Rosetta was theirs. But know this she was, is, and always will be ours! They will say ‘HA! Rosetta is dead you have no speaker now!’ Here is what we will say! We will say, ‘We speak for the People! The People speak for themselves!’”

The People’s eyes were lit up with the Flame. The Flame of hope. Their leaders Piper and Will, a girl and a boy of about 17, would lead them in this Revolution. Piper with her copper hair and bright green eyes was the heart and soul of the Revolution. She became known as the Queen of the Slums. (Aka she was very poor and took care of the people who were more poor than she was) Will with his blond white hair and icy blue eyes was the brains of the Revolution.

Piper’s younger brother, Luke, ran up onto the platform and gave a shout, “OI!” When the people did not listen he gave an even louder cry “Listen everybody!,” This got the every one’s attention. Luke took a deep breath, “It has just been said by the King himself that a Parade in Rosetta’s honor will be held tomorrow.”

Everyone began to mumble uneasily even Piper shot nervous glances at Will. Piper composed herself for the the People’s sake “We have no time to lose then. We will get Rosetta back for she was ours. When we do, we will create barricades. Which we should actually start building now. The guard will come after us. Every man and woman able to handle a gun will be defending the barricades. Children will all be in one dedicated area. It will be the best for them. Any spare women will be needed in the infirmary. This will be a night that we and above all them will never forget!” With one last shout the People began to file into a room where they were given their orders. So full of hope they were.

As the People moved about to get their assignments. Piper pulled Will aside. “Are you sure this will work?”

“Positive.” he replied

“I just don’t want to lose innocent people to this fight.” Piper sighed

“They are the ones who make the decision to fight with us. It will not be your fault if they die. They know the costs.”

“Yes, but I’m sure that their families won’t forgive us if they do not come back home.” Piper looked up at Will with tear-filled eyes,”Will, I’m scared.”

“We all are. Come here.” He held out his arms to her. She looked at them then to Will then around her. There was no one around them. She ran into his embrace and mumbled “I don’t want to die. I have to take care of Luke.”

“I know none of us do.”

They walked to the cafe ready to face the fight together. Piper and Will began to lay out the plans to all around them. The spots where barricades would be built, where Rosetta’s funeral would be, and how they would proceed. They did not want the guard to hear even a whisper of their plans. It would be a surprise attack. Piper and Will had on the wall of the cafe a map of the City. As they laid out where the barricades would be built and how they would be built The People began to bring in fire-arms, swords, muskets, clubs... any weapons available. The People did not have access to the modern technology, only the guard did. The City’s layout was very difficult to defend. It was as if that when they designed the city so a rebellion did not happen.
