23-year-old Acclie Thompson unlatched the door to her 35th floor condo. It was a new build, and Acclie had made an offer on it a few months ago.

Her mind wandered off, only to think of Alex. Where was he? Did he even care about her anymore? Was he with another girl?

She walked in, setting her keys on the eat-in table of her kitchen. Her eyes moved to left and at her desk she saw her "Did I Ever Mention" list Acclie was making for Alex. Sometimes, Acclie thought she did the stupidest of things. Such as making a list to someone she didn't even know was living or dead, or even cared to read the list. The list included things like "Did I ever mention that I loved you so much it killed me inside when you left", or "Did I ever mention that I need you and miss you?". You know, Acclie thought, Hell with it! Why do I care so much about something that was?

Snatching the list off the desk surface, Acclie ripped it up into as many pieces as possible, opened the French doors leading to her balcony, and threw the shreds in the air. She rested her manicured fingertips on the railing as she watched them float down, down, down.

Before she knew it, a steady stream of tears fell from the corners of her eyes. Acclie used her nail to wipe them away. Why was this so hard? Even though Alex was her first serious romance, it felt like they were 60 and married 40 years. Despite that fact that they were never married. There may have been a proposal, about a year ago, but a "friend of the family had died". Acclie was horrified that Alex left so suddenly after she worked so hard all that day to set up a romantic dinner.

Why was she surprised? Alex was known for commitment-issues. Her best friend, Karra, had once told her Alex was just in it for the great sex. Acclie did NOT want to believe that, and felt like Alex did care for her.

Acclie snapped back into the present. She pulled her iPhone out of her blazer pocket and dialed Alex's number. As always, it went to a voice-mail.

"Hey it's Alex, sorry I can't get to my phone right now but if you would leave your name and a short message I'll get back to you A.S.A.P. Thanks. Peace." Beeeep.

"Alex, hey," Acclie started slowly. "I've made it a system I guess to call every day until you answer me but it seems as though you'll be getting my calls for a long time. Look, I honestly don't know what happened with us. After a great night, I woke up the next morning only to find the other side of my bed cold and empty with all your stuff gone. Cold has seeped through me and I feel horrible and lonley. Can you please call me? Or come back? I miss you and I want you to know I love you very, very much. 'Bye."

Acclie tapped end and ambled back inside. She fixed herself a T.V. dinner and settled on her couch underneath a blanket. She turned on her flat-screen to E! News and ate slowly.

Ring rinnnnnnng!!!

She jumped up and threw the blanket off herself.

"Hello?"
