I have to attend a party tomorrow with a bunch of the people in my color guard. My social anxiety is making me freak out right now. Plus, I owe you guys. So prepare to be basically overloaded with updates.
the one with Alexander's awkward introduction
John's POV
It was time for homeroom, finally. After all the stuff that happened with Alexander, I was ready for the day to be over. Unfortunately, this is my high school, where all the drama occurs at the beginning of the day, and the rest is stupid boring. Anyways, it was homeroom, and it looked as if Alexander hadn't moved in the last five minutes. I looked around the room, at the rest of my classmates, who were sitting in their seats and talking loudly to their friends.
Just then, I heard a deep, gruff voice yelling at me from behind.
"Hey look, it's everyone's favorite whore!" I rolled my eyes and turned around.
"I think that spot is taken by Miss Maria Lewis." I said, annoyed but smiling. "Hey, Hercules."
Hercules Mulligan and They-Have-Way-Too-Many-Names-I'm-Just-Gonna-Call-Them-Laf are two more people in my friend group. I'd call us a squad, but I'm 99.9% sure we're too unpopular to be that. Peggy's sister's are the other two, but they weren't in homeroom with us.
Before I could say anything to them, the bell rang. Washington walked into the classroom, and up to the front.
"Ooh, Mister Washington's late to class!" someone teased. We all laughed.
"I was talking to Mr. Peters. Besides, you can't punish me, I'm the teacher. So there." We all laughed again.
"Alright, time to start the week. Happy Monday!" To this, we all groaned. I know I at least would rather be in bed. It seemed my classmates agreed.
"Anyways, announcements! Track and Feild practice has been canceled after school today, because Coach's wife finally had her baby last night. Before you ask, he name is Daisy, and yes, she is possibly the most adorable being on the planet. All other practice is scheduled as normal. Auditions for the winter play are this Wednesday and Thursday. The play will be You Can't Take It With You. I've never heard of it either, don't worry. Finally, we have a new student with us today. Alexander, why don't you introduce yourself?"
The room was silent. Alexander was staring up at Washington like he was crazy. After a few moments, when it was clear Washington would not budge, Alexander stood up. He turned and looked at all of us. For a second, we made eye contact. He looked so scared I almost felt bad for him, before I remembered our earlier encounter. When he looked away, the fear seemed to vanish. Was he looking at me in purpose? Was he asking for help? There was no was Washington wouldn't make him do this, so I really was no help.
"Um, hi." Alexander said kind of quietly. He looked at me again. I motioned for him to be louder.
"Hello." he said, at a reasonable volume this time. I flashed him a thumbs up. "My name is Alexander Hamilton, and I came here from the Carribean." Well, that's what I thought he said. He actually sounded more like this.
"Hello. MynameisAlexanderHamiltonandIcameherefromtheCarribean."
Well okay then.
Washington let him sit back down, and he began to drone on about something I wasn't listening to. I could only think about one thing.
Alexander looked at me. Peggy was so much nicer to him than I was. He said she reminded him of a friend of hers. And Peggy was sitting just a few seats down from me.
But Alexander Hamilton was scared.
And he asked me for help.
